canada has alberta, usa has texas, what does Australia have?

also, is there much difference between differant states and regions in australia as to culture/politics.....like how in canada quebec is a distinct culture, the maritimes have their own fishermans culture, alberta has a cowboy culture, bc has a liberal hippy culture, etc?

I was thinking of a great adventure in Australia. Going from Sydney to Perth, traveling by bike, bycicle that is. Averaging around 40 miles a day, Figuring it would take me 3 months to travel from one city to another. I was planing to spend 5 dollars a day for food, and bring camping equipment with me. What would be the best time of year to do this? What it the best possible route, where the traffic is not too heavy, also availability of camping grounds that are not too expensive?

Thank You

We'll be in the area in October but will sadly only have a day or less to "see" the Great Barrier Reef, and we'll probably have to go on a touristy boat trip rather than snorkeling or something more exciting. Given these limitations, who would operate the best glass-bottom boat tour, and what would be the best place to depart from?

This was in Sydney, Byron Bay, Brisbane, Cairns, Port Douglas etc. Incidentally, Sydney has no pubs at all really. Kings Cross was supposed to be lively, but it was empty and had only a few bars. Has it always been like this?!

I am a 22 year old college student, recently decided to move to Adelaide from my hometown of Cincinnati, Ohio in order to pursue my dreams and education. I moved to the USA only 6 years ago from Sydney, and now that I am going back, I desperately need some updates and advice on how to start over again. I am very familiar with Australian culture [because I was born in Sydney], but I have been Americanized and would like some help on adapting to the Aussie lifestyle again. Help appreciated.
