No. Tourist visas are for tourism only. You can find out about the different visas at the Department of Immigration web page at http://www.immi.gov.au

No possibility! there is quite some hoops to bounce with the aid of until now that happens. For my spouse i'm staring at $2000 for the important different visa utility on my own and a in all possibility 8 month wait until in might or won't be approved. tourist visa could be the quickest thank you to flow. Ozmaniac will fill you in. P.S. we've been married very almost 10 years yet meaning squat.

G'day,
With tourist visa you can only travel but not work. For some country of origin, it is even impossible to change visa type while still remaining in Australia.
Check with the nearest Australian embassy/high comm for the type of visa suitable for you.
Hope this helps. Good luck and welcome to Australia.

You could but it would be some dodgy bastard trying to pay you a pathetic wage because you dont legally have a work visa. You need to try to get a working holiday visa which I believe maybe available to US citizens now
