Nah mate, it's true blue, fair dinkum, dyed in the wool, no bull, all Aussie and not Pommie.
Translation:
No friend, it's genuine, natural, authentic, unquestionably, all Australian and not British.

aussiewitch_50 is on the money. There is more than one Australian accent. Very generally, there are at least four, probably six. The north Queensland one has been mentioned, there is also an accent centred around the "new England" region of New South Wales and I once could detect if someone was from Melbourne. I have also noted an accent from parts of South Australia which seems to be derived from recent English immigration. On top of this you will also hear "educated Australian". While the "broad" Australian accent may have been derived from "Cockney", it is no longer the same.
The same can be said of the accent of the West Indies (Jamaica etc) which is derived from "West Country" English, since most of the white slaveholders and sugar planters there 200+ years ago were from Somerset and nearby counties. Derived from it, but no longer the same.
When I was a child I was told the "Australian accent" (as if there was only one) was vulgar and unpleasant. But now I think that those doing the telling were vulgar and unpleasant.

I am an Aussie and found the above answers, something to smile about.. I am a fair dinkum bush Aussie, and I have drilled in every state of Aust. and every state has its own twang and accent.. I originally come from the Northern Territory and I live in Sth Aust..We don't talk anything like the Cockney's, that someone thinks we sound like..The Nth Qld drawl as someone said.. She must be an Aussie to know that, as I spent about 4 years up around that country and yes they have a lay ed back, long drawn out sort of speech.. Bit like what I hear on the movies about down south in USA, but they really do talk slower, the Aussies I mean... Love it or hate it that's the way we talk... Blessed Be... )O(

Most people around the world like it... some don't but it is typically because they first met a poor example of an Australian!
I lived in England 2.5 years and no one said I spoke like a cockney.. I found them hard to understand at first.. and would have to tune my ear in!
And I'm true blue!

Why would you ask this? I don't understand.
As long as the Australian is speaking and writing English with proper grammar, there is nothing vulgar.
I have heard from some people that they feel the sound of French sounds like baby talk - that is silly.
Others feel that German sounds rough and brutal - that is stupid in many people's opinion.
To others in the world American English sounds nasal and unpleasing - but that is their opinion.
Relax and enjoy the sound of other languages as there is nothing vulgar and unpleasant of others trying to converse with their fellow humans. Who knows what your pronounciation sounds like to them.

It depends on where that 'ear' has been before. I like most of the Australian accents. Especially the northern Queensland drawl.

No...the Aussie accent is quite unique. We don't sound at all like cockneys.
I am currently living in the USA and everybody just adores my accent. I quite often have people wanting to speak with me just to hear me talk haha. I find it very refreshing.

i guess you cant please everyone, but i recently moved from Australia to the US (the south in particular) and people just love my accent. the ladies at the gas station insist that i talk with them whenever i fill up my car, the ladies at my daughters playgroup have me read at least one story to the kids cause they love the way that i talk, my husbands family all tell me how they love my accent and thats just to mention a few...
the Australian accent is unique and very hard to imitate, one of the hardest to pull off actually...im very proud to be Australian and while in the US will do everything that I can to hang on to my individuality!!!
