if so, what area is it and why is it more conservative.

canada has alberta, usa has texas, what does Australia have?

also, is there much difference between differant states and regions in australia as to culture/politics.....like how in canada quebec is a distinct culture, the maritimes have their own fishermans culture, alberta has a cowboy culture, bc has a liberal hippy culture, etc?

Certain parts of cities or States are more conservative than others but no State is more conservative than any other. While the Liberal party (the right wing conservatives) runs the Federal government, all the State and Territory governments are in the hands of the Labor party (slightly right of centre progressives these days). The religious right is becomng more dominant and now runs the Liberal party in New South Wales.

The Northern Territory has had conservative rule for 26 years and now we are suffering under the chains of the Labour Party.

I think Queensland used to be the most conservative state, thanks primarily to Sir Joh Bjelke-Petersen who was the Qld premier from 1968 to 1987. He was an uncomprising conservative.

As for culture differences....not really. Having said that, if you go to the outback, you will find people talk alot differently there then say, someone who is from Sydney.

Not really, we are all pretty much the same but in my opinion city people aren't real Aussies! And there is a big difference there!
