Many years ago I had heard that there are chartered flights
from the US to other countries and that travel by these
flights is cheaper than by regular airlines. Apparently they
don't have the same service as airlines and the flights may
get delayed and so on, but it is cheaper. Does anyone
know about such flights?

I don't know exactly how it works, but my guess is that
some group may charter a flight for whatever reason (cheaper
fare?) and they may have some seats available which may
be offered to members of public.

OK, stupid question time. I'm flying from Houston to Seattle tomorrow, which is a 4-hour flight. That's a long time to go without something to drink. Does the liquid ban apply only to passengers, or to any liquid in the cabin? In other words, will we still have the customary beverage carts making the rounds, or are all flyers destined to be very thirsty when they reach their destinations?

A one way international ticket from Europe to the US costs about the same as a Rount Trip ticket from the US to Europe and back.

I know you are not allowed it but I'm flying on Saturday. What can I take in a clear bag apart from passport and travel docs? Can I take my mobile phone, iPod, camera or do they need to go in my suitcase? What about a purse/wallet? I know it's been on the news all day but everybody tells a different story!!!

Going to Gran Canaria for 2 weeks and she is terrified of flying, this mornings news isn't going to help matters, is there any sensible remedies to take, she tried "Rescue" but it didn't really do anything, were flying at 8:30am so alcohol is off the list, plus they don't let you fly when drunk! Cheers

Several years ago, admittedly before terrorism had become quite such a serious threat as it is today, I returned from Barcelona airport with a fossil in my hand luggage, as I thought it was too fragile to go in the hold. It was in a slab of rock about the size of a large dinner plate, wrapped in some clothes. I saw it go through the x-ray machine as a mysterious opaque black blob that was surely worthy of investigation? However, as both machine operators were engrossed in conversation, they were not watching the screens, and so didn't see it.

Several weeks after 7/11, I got my nail scissors confiscated at Gatwick.

Anyone with similar experiences?
