Many years ago I had heard that there are chartered flights
from the US to other countries and that travel by these
flights is cheaper than by regular airlines. Apparently they
don't have the same service as airlines and the flights may
get delayed and so on, but it is cheaper. Does anyone
know about such flights?

I don't know exactly how it works, but my guess is that
some group may charter a flight for whatever reason (cheaper
fare?) and they may have some seats available which may
be offered to members of public.

I work for Allegiant Air from December- April for an International Charter out of Milwaukee, also with USA 3000 and Ryan International.
It might be slighty complicated but here it goes.

Apple Vacations picks the Airline to do the Charter (Allegiant, USA 3000 and Ryan are not regular carriers in Milwaukee only from December-April...For the purpose of the Charter.)

When Apple picks the Airline, They bring the Airlines staff, to train a different company to do the gate and ticket agent work, The people at the ticket counter aren't actually The Airlines staff, but staff from a contracted company.

Its a public Charter, with yes, GREAT DEALS.

Just go to your travel agent, many many airports do the charter in the same way.

These were just charters to several destinations in Mexico, and Fort Myers Florida.

Or if you know the Airline that is doing the charter, call a representitive from that airline.

I hope this helps.

Many of the major airlines offer an elite service with chartered flights. Usually what you do is buy a block of hours to use from the private company. Delta has one and their link is below, that may be a start on your research. IVe never heard of a charter flight being cheaper than a regular flight unless it is a casino charter, those fares are comparable...maybe slightly cheaper, but International ive never heard of charters being cheaper. I worked for Delta for many years and we did the contract in several cities for Allegiant's casino charters.

If you go into any travel agent, and pick up a brochure to say Jamaica..where the air, hotel & transfers are all included in one price, these are normally charter companies.. Holiday companies buy hotel blocks and a blocks of space on a charter flight. Lots of these companies also do air only.. it all depends on where you are.. In Canada, there are many. You are best to check with a travel agent.. if she can't get you a charter, ask her to try for a net rate.. These are seat sales that the airlines offer the bigger agencies.. they say..okay we will sell this seat to you for 200$, you can sell it for what ever you want, up to the regular fare, so if you have a good travel agent, they may give it to you for 250 or 300. They have to make their slice as well...Plus tax of course.
