I'm hoping there are some Kenyans online who can help me with this: is there a hard and fast rule to using Masaai or Masai? I always say Masai Mara and Maasai tribe, but I'm not sure if that's right. Please help!

Although I am only a quarter Japanese, I can get very very "brown" when I get a tan. Do you think people will look at me differently, or just as an American? My dear friend is studying about S.A. and she brought this to my attention...just wanted to get a second opinion.

There are so many luxurious but expensive (£200 plus per night) hotels in Dubai. Is it worth splashing out, and if so can you recommend the best?

Afrikaans words are used in English as well. I can think of Apartheid http://education.yahoo.com/reference/dictionary/entry/apartheid;_ylt=Akr5gMFUlv.w__mzI2Ty.zasgMMF and aardvark http://education.yahoo.com/reference/dictionary/entry/aardvark for example. And some English words, used as slang at first, have been adopted by Afrikaans as well, like "boks" (box) and "verkeerslig" (traffic light). Words that used to be an "anglisisme" are now considered Afrikaans words. Do you know of any others? This is a very difficult question, but I have faith in you guys! Remember that this question actually requires two answers. Afrikaans to English dictionary and English to Afrikaans dictionary. Now we'll see who the smart ones are!

My passport expires in April 2007. I'm currently in Korea and plan to visit South Africa in January 2007. I'll be staying for a month. Which means I'll be back two months before it expires. I can get a new one at the embassy then. Do you think I should wait until then or get it done now? And wouldn't it be too early to do it now? And if I wait, will I be allowed to travel back to Korea with a passport about to expire?

I just spoke with my mom and they are getting ready to make a potjie. She said it just isn't the same without me and my family. Shame! Can you list 5 or more things that go best with making potjie? My list includes beer, pictionary, friends (good company), dominoes and "stokbrood".

The more I read and see about what used to be South Africa, the worse it gets.
Rampant AIDS. Rampant crime. Uncontrolled illegal immigration from worse places (can you imagine) like Zimbabwe.
An ineffectual so-called police force. A corrupt Marxist government (is there any other kind of Marxist government?)
Inner city squalor. Once busy and productive areas (Hillbrow, downtown Jo'burg), reduced to rubble.
Roads and cities falling apart.
Where once your allies were the US and Israel - now they're China, Cuba, Zimbabwe - any totalitarian regime that imprisons its own citizens.

Okay - this isn't my usual 'negativity'. Tell me - logically and realistically - is there hope? Will things get better?
Could the responsibility of hosting the World Cup turn things around?
Can the ANC get its act together?

NEW YORK - A public school teacher was arrested today at JFK International Airport as he attempted to board a flight while in possession of a ruler, a protractor, a set square and a calculator.

At a morning press conference, Attorney General John Ashcroft said he believes the man is a member of the notorious Al-gebra movement. He did not identify the man, who has been charged by the FBI with carrying weapons of math instruction.

"Al-gebra is a problem for us," Ashcroft said. "They desire solutions by means and extremes, and sometimes go off on tangents in a search of absolute value. They use secret code names like 'x' and 'y' and refer to themselves as 'unknowns,' but we have determined they belong to a common denominator of the axis of medieval with coordinates in every country. As the Greek philanderer Isosceles used to say, 'There are 3 sides to every triangle.'

At 3am, the manager of the local fisherman's club receives a phone call at home from a man who sounds quite drunk. The man asks the manager, 'What time does the club open?'. The manager says, Noon and he hangs up. An hour later the phone rings again and the same voice asks, 'What time does the club open.
At 6.30 the phone rings and the same voice asks, 'Wenja shay the club opens at?. The manager now quite peeved, yells, i told you before it opnes at noon. And if you don't sober up, you won't be allowed to get in. The slurry drunken voice then says. Ah don't wanna get in, I wanna get out.

A drunken fisherman was seen crawling down some railroad tracks. Asked if there was a problem, he replied, Yeah can you help me off this ladder.

I'm thinking about going to Jerusalem next year. But I would like to know how it is there.
How is the food there? Is it really dangerous there? How do people treat foreigners (ex. Germans)? Is it expensive? Is it easy to get a job there? How are the people there? How are the Jewish guys there...good looking, friendly, romantic, open, faithful, do they like black girls? I heard Israeli guys have a hard time showing their emotions, is that true?
Most of the Jewish and Middle Eastern guys I've met are gorgeous. And I don't care what the stereotype says, but I love their noses!!
