My parents have just booked a flight for the three of us to go see my sister in Southampton at xmas and I've been informed by them that I cannot wear boots on the flight. I thought this was a joke but apparently when my sister was visiting last week she was stopped at Edinburgh Airport and told to remove her Caterpillar boots because she could have a device hidden in the thick soles!
I read over the conditions we got with our e-tickets and it seems that this is correct. I usually wear knee high boots in the winter but now I'm going to have to wear shoes or trainers for the flight. Is it just me or is this too much?
I'm not disputing that we all have to be vigilant when travelling but does it really matter if I wear boots or flip flip flops? If someone was determined enough to carry out an act of terrorism such as blowing up a plane surely they would have thought up new ways to hide the devices?
Will the next step be a strip search for everyone or am I just being silly?

Will America Attack Pakistan ? Because Gen. Musharraf is acting like Saddam ?

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan - Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was deported Monday hours after he had landed in Pakistan from seven years in exile hoping to campaign against the country's U.S.-allied military ruler, officials said.

About four hours after he arrived on a flight from London, Sharif was taken into custody and charged with corruption, but then quickly spirited to another plane and flown out of Pakistan toward Jeddah in Saudi Arabia, an intelligence official said.

An official in President Gen. Musharraf's office confirmed Sharif was deported but did not divulge his destination.

Both officials spoke on condition of anonymity as they were not authorized to speak to media. There was no immediate formal confirmation from the government.

Pakistan's Dawn News TV and ARY TV networks also reported that Sharif's destination was Jeddah.

Sharif's deportation came despite a landmark Supreme Court ruling last month that the two-time former premier, whose elected govern

I read this article about 502 Albanian children that have have disappeared in Greece from the state managed institution 'Aghia Varvara'.

How is this possible? 502 is not a small number! Is there a serial killer? Or a serial killer with ties to the local police dept.?
