I would like to know why skateboarding and snowboarding stances are called goofy and regular. If it is possible, I would also like to know what is the normal etymology of these words (I think regular comes from latin but I'm not sure).

Thanks in advance.

We live in Florida, and are planning two-three snowboard trips to the same part of CO for the 2006-2007 ski season. We intentionally did this so that we could get a season pass and save on each week that we go. We are going to the Keystone/Breck area, so I've heard of the "Ski 3" pass, but from what I've read, you MUST purchase it in person in CO in Sept or Oct? We aren't going until December...help!

I saw a couple of articles on t-nation.com and other sites in which they state that a simple tempo of "lift as fast as you can, lower under control, and use perfect form", which is pretty much like a 10X0 or 1010 tempo (no pauses at top or bottom, 1 second to lower and 1 second or slightly less to lift, so the X means to explode and TRY to move the bar fast), is enough to build muscle mass just as well as German Volume Training can do for anybody.

Some say that the eccentric should be 2 seconds, not more, and some say that the basic rule of bodybuilding is to lower in 4 seconds or more, or to add up to 4 seconds of Time Under Tension between the lowering and the pause at the bottom, or just the lowering phase alone, in order to promote Hypertrophy.

What is the best tempo to get big?

I read on msn, an article about ski resorts that are fun for the people one may drag along with them who do not like to ski. Does anyone know the link to that article? I'm mainly interested in snowboarding but for the purpose of wording, I said ski.

I always thought that the focus was in riding in the pow with friends, being expressive and creative.

When I started in about 93 we were anti skiing because they cared too much about how they looked. The snob was outweighing the fun they had. A lot of us were sk8ers. We were raw, rebelious, creative. We were all on the cutting edge because so little had been done yet. I used to hate it when tourists would ask me if I could turn on it. I kinda miss it. You were a freak riding a heavy plank of wood. The skiiers wanted you to fail so they could keep their snoby ski club. If you were a snowboarder you were cool. We had fun and didn't care what others thought.
They need to have a snowboarding documentary that starts out with a kid out riding on a snowcovered golfcourse wishing for the skislopes to let ride him the big mts. Damn it's been a fun ride!

I've gone to the usual websites like Myspace and finding real riders is difficult. Usually the word search will just bring up any profile that somebody put snowboarding as an interest in because they'd seen a commercial with a rider on TV that afternoon. I'm honestly looking for a site where I can connect with women who already ride cause teaching a new girl to hang with the crew is painful. Trust me, I know! And the few times you do find a real rider, she's 17... Well. I'm 32, so my limit is 26. LOL!
