THERE IS ONE THING THAT CAN KEEP ICE SKATING FROM BEING HARD.
BEND YOUR KNEES!!! (and look ahead...okay, 2 things, but mostly bending your knees)
You can push almost the same you do on rollerblades, but ice skates are more fun because there are more ways to lean and turn!
Figure skaters use a trick called "spotting" to minimize dizziness. It's the same trick (ballet) dancers use when they whip their heads around really fast during pirouette spins on one foot and it looks like their bodies are spinning while their heads stay still.
The last few times a skater goes around on a spin, the skater will pick a spot on the wall to concenrate on during the last few revolutions. Then she/he will stare at the spot right after exiting/stopping the spin either gliding or in a "tah-dah!" pose.
Just like astronauts, experienced skaters get used to the feeling and don't have to spot anymore. Then the next problem faced is trying to keep from spinning so fast that all the blood rushes to your fingers.

I personally don't think roller blading has much of an impact on ice skating. And everything is difficult the first time you do it. Please. The first time I went skating i fell on my a** a gazillion times. but did i give up? NO i am in freestyle 6 and proud of it. I put a lot of effort into it and now it is simple. Balance, Gracefulness, and definitely don't be afraid to fall because that will make it worse. Roller blading is on wheels. Figure skating is on a thin blade. Balance is KEY. Hope I helped =]

I figure skate or ice skate whatever you want to call it and i have been for 7 years and im REALLY bad at rollar blading i guess im good for a person who only rollar blades like once a year but i think rollar blades are more like hockey skates because figure skates have two edges and hockey skates have one so i think rollar blades are a little more like hockey skates but who knows I may be totally wrong cause ive never worn hockey skates. and i get dizzy when I spin fast and when I do a layback spin and i look at the ceiling but other then that i dont really get dizzy

I have never been either but everyone tells me that if you can roller blade the with a little added balance then you can ice skate. I would think that they do get dizzy, i know i do just watching them. We both probably need to just try it and see and quit asking other people

no, once you learn to spin, you really don't get dizzy of you are healthy. If you want to compete yes, it is hard, the training is intese and the hours are long. all the muscles of your body ocme into play and yu need to be a hard worker and not afraid of failure and suffering. But to just ice skate, like at a public session, no, after a couple of laps, you'll get the hang of it.

You can learn to skate with about one time to the rink. Just make sure your skates are on really tight and then treat it like roller blades. For anything above just going around the rink I can't help you.
