Werner Grobeli (Frick) and Hansruedi Mauch (Frack) were Swiss comedy ice skaters who skated in the original Ice Follies back in the '40's. They were very popular, and their names eventually became a slang term in English for two people who are so alike as to be indistinguishable from one another.

fric and fraq are two characters in the story Alice In Wonderland. If my memory isn't failing me I believe it was the Queen card's two henchman set forth to capture Alice ;)
