I've only lived in warm climates and I'm moving to the upper midwest in a couple of months. I've heard the first winter is tough until you learn what to wear and how to wear it. I would love to get a head start with some advice from people who have more experience than I. What specific kind of coat, shoes, socks, scarf, etc. should I buy once I get there? Any other tips to stay warm?

I am 99% sure I've just had a mild meniscus tear. I've got an MRI scan scheduled for early next week.

I was doing quick squats and my knee collapsed and I think that is where the injury occurred. I was lifting lightweights trying to recondition because I haven't been well conditioned since I stop training after the February Olympic Games in Torino.

My problem is that I'd due to compete on the World Cup circuit in my sport in late November.

Question 1:- For those that have arthroscopy how long until you are fully fit again and have full range of motion? And does the post-op cause you to loose any speed or power?

Question 2: Who is the best knee surgeon in your area. Or the best knee surgeon in your country?

Only serious answers please.
Thanks.

I m after a group of boarder.. to go riding in weekends
Date wise.. decision will be made after feedback.
Generally, $$ wise I would like to equally separate this for group participation; Travel, Accommodation, Food. With individual needs such as lift passes, ur on ur own
Travel wise, if someone has private transport and is kind enough to make this available this will be great.. ( petrol will be dived ) however if this is unavailable I guess we can always take the bus..
Also.. I understand some people will be very anxious and I also understand this will require trust for this to happen so.. prior to departure I would like to arrange a quick get together so people that are actually anxious.. can pull out.. Now.. if people are genuinely interested in attending.. please send me an e-mail with ur details to
another_day638@hotmail.com
this is not a scam, I am just a 20 Year old male just wanting to SNOW…
I thank u for taking the time to read and hope to receive some e-mails..

I was going down the side of a slope or facing the hill going down sideways. I was leaning into my position so my knees were far out further than my ankles. I heard a pop and my leg had a terrible pain. I had been hit by a skier passing by who was using his poles to get going faster and a pole hit my my achilles and there was so much tension in my achilles the doctor said it snapped when the point on the pole jabbed it. Is this very common or have you heard of it happening?

My family and I own a apartment in Meribel, 3 vallys, france but want to go somewere else skiing for a change. We would like a place with a fairly sizeable skiing area which is in one area and has door-to-door skiing. The price needs to be fairly resonable. An Eastern European ski resort would be favorable as long as it follows the above criteria. Not in france please as we go there too much.

my friend is 17 and wants to take up figure skating. i think she is too old. she dreams about skating in competitions. she has been skating for 8 years now, but hasn't taken any lessons. she is graceful and skates smoothly, but doesn't know any tricks. although figure skating is also one of my passions, i don't know what advice to give her. on one hand, i would try to take some lessons too and encourage her, but on the other hand, i think i am too old too. i don't think she could become a star and compete (don't get me wrong - i want her to), but i don't want to get her moral down. she really wants to do this. how can i help her? she doesn't have many ice rinks in her city and lessons could be expensive. she spends a lot of time on roller blades, but it's not the same thing.
