i am 16, and would LOVE to become proficient in figure skating.

unfortunately, i am (1) very out of practice...i haven't done it regularly up to this point, and (2) am not very agile. i used to take gymnastics, but no longer do.

i'm willing to put effort into this, as i feel it is a beautiful form of self-expression, as well as an impressive and challenging activity, and so if i am still able to learn, i will.

i'm not looking to compete at this point, either. this is just for my personal happiness.

however, is 16 too late? and exactly how long will progress take?

thanks!

I went to Ice skating a few days ago. Although I got quite a number of bruises in the process but I still finds it enjoyable. Is it difficult to learn? as a side question to girls, do you like guys brings you to Ice skating?

It is $100 for 6 weeks of ice-skating(a semester) and $150 for two semesters! I really love to ice-skate but i don't know which to choose! Help!

Mine would be either Mark Frank Montoya for his flowing style or Jussi Oksanen for his amazing switch tricks.

Looking for a destination area with a good program for kids (mine are 5 and 8) open through April 21, 2007. Thinking primarily of Denver area but open to anything within reasonable flight distance of Boston.

I just got back from an intense week of snowboarding in Colorado and I have the bug. I am looking for something all-purpose to continue learning on, but am willing to spend an extra few bucks for the investment.

I am 5'10'' and about 175lbs and have been using a 157 board.

Im also into graphic design so I would love a pretty creative design. I really love the designs on the Burton Uninc boards, but dont think those really functionally fit with what I am capable of doing.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Given mild interest, I wonder if the answer isn't 'free skiis,' but I worry about having a rough time -- it's been almost twenty years since I last skiied -- and giving up even though part of it might be the fault of the skiis.

How lousy can I get away with if I want cheap ones?

Or is it worth spending a few bucks?

Got any suggestions for brands, good web sites, price ranges, etc?

Last year I took beginner ice skating lessons. When I first went out on the ice I couldn't even stand on the skates by the time I finished my lessons (16 lessons) I could slowly stroke around the rink. Close and hanging on to the boards. How can I get away from the boards and improve my balance? Is there anything or exercises that I can do to improve these areas. By the way I was 44 when I took my first lesson. Thanks.

I'm a beginner, just started last year and I went on my first black (no falling, yay!) last weekend. No, I can't carve or do tricks.

I'm female, 5ft. 3 1/2 in. or 161.29 centimeters, weigh 110 pounds or 50 kilograms. I wear a shoe size 7 1/2 and sometimes 8.

Yes, I know that the board should got up to between my nose and chin, but I'm looking to order a board online and that won't help very much, will it? I thought that 148cm was a good size, but I was told to get a smaller one. Also, the snowboard sizing guide at http://www.frostyrider.com/tips/size-guide.htm told me to get a 140cm, but isn't that a little short?

Any and all help is appreciated, thanks!
