Well theres the ones that you put inbetween your legs which are called t-bars and button lifts, and they basically pull you up the mountain whilst you keep your skiis/snowboard on the snow.
Then theres the ones where you keep your snowboard or skiis on, and sit on a chair type thing, these are called chair lifts/ski lifts
And finally there are the ones that are like little cabins where you stand or sit but they are usually enclosed and you have to take your snowboard/skiis off. These are called gondolas or cable cars.
