Volleyball

I have a 15-year-old daughter who was a starter on the freshman volleyball team last year and now got cut this year and is very upset. Does anyone have some suggestions on how to handle this?

im trying out for my freshman volleyball team in a few days, and am completely freaking out. what should i practice on before the tryouts??? what does the coach look for in a player??? do we need to bring our own equipment to the tryouts??? and what are the practices like???

In competive volley ball, when your up to serve, can you throw the ball up and catch it to make sure it's in the place you want it, and then serve?

We call it the "hammer shot". It's where you clasp your hands, bend your arms and lift them up - similar to how you would lift up a sledgehammer, only higher - so that when the ball comes to you overhead or on your head, you can swing down your arms or "hammer" the ball into the opponent's side. If perfected, this shot can be deadly precise!

We play this shot quite often, but I have begun to think - is this shot legal? Is it professional? Because I've never seen the professional volleyball players play this shot.

My tryouts are in two days I am so nervous because I want to make varsity so incredibly bad. I am a freshman but I am a pretty good player I can play any postion really but usually I play setter. But I think I have a good chance because I am taller then the current varsity setter and are skills are almost equal but she just has more expirience with different plays like shoots, slides, ones, and things like that. I think it would be so cool to make it because I think I would be either the 1st or 2nd freshman to ever make varsity.

So my question is has anyone here make varsity as a freshman on a high school team that rarely have freshmen on varsity?

I have played lots of different sports my whole life but NEVER volleyball.My sophomore year I wasn't trying out for soccer,which I have played my whole life,cuz me and the coach are worst enemies!So I decided to try out for volleyball and I made it.I had so much fun and I learned to love that sport and learned the basic skills you need for it.When try-outs came for the next year,which I was a junior,i didn't make it because I only knew the basics.The coach was considering letting me stay cuz I have great potential but wouldn't get very much playing time,so she left the decision up to me.My decision was to not be on the team at all and train hard for a year till the next try outs!I'm gonna join a club team and get lessons,I alrealy have a personal trainer and a workout routine and everything,I love sports-sports r my LIFE and I understand not making the volleyball team but i am a true athlete and am gonna give it all I got to make it next year.If you have any tips for me please tell me!

What is ur favorite sport, mine is volleyball-I play on my school's 7th gr. volleyball team.My other two sports tied with Volleyball are,1;basketball, and, 2;baseball. I am a total jock and i've played all of these team sports. My boyfriend loves basketball;he is flippin' amazing on the court.

please help!! any tips on overhand serve in volleyball?

ive played volleyball for my 7th grade school team and we were only required to know underhand serve, although overhand serve was recommended. i practiced overhand serves for a while, but never learned it that season.
however, this year, i'm entering 8th and we have to know overhand. i have about 2 weeks before tryouts, and i'm nervous as ever. i've been practicing and practicing and i just CANT get it! its really frustrating because ive been told i'm superb at passing, digs, etc, but it's the serve i just can't get. any ideas? i would be thrilled if i could just get it over the net from behind the end line, honestly. any ideas would be VERY much appriciated. thanks =)

i am getting soooo frustrated with this one girl on my volleyball team. shes realllly bad and cant do anything for the life or her and then she talks like shes the best person on our team and we all would be lost without her! she thinks the only reason my friend and i are the starting two setters is because her mom and my dad coach! and thats not true because some random ppl who dont even know us pick the starters what can i do about it!!
