no offense, but I think you should be happy to get on freshman or even jv to get experience. I used to travel to play in sand volleyball tournaments and I would take a player with the experience every time if the skills were even close. Because it is hard to break someone in and get them the experience if the matches count and they normally do. The pressure is normally too high to just throw them in the fire and expect them to perform at the level you need to win if they have not been in the tournament environment before.
I wish you the best of luck though. And remember if you worry about it too much you are sure to mess up just lay back and say what happens happens!

I have heard of several stories such as yours. Skill and experience run neck and neck in a coach's perspective. However most teams want at least 2 setters, to run a 6-2 offense. I personally made Varsity my sophomore year, jumping from frosh to Varsity. If you have the drive, it will show. Offer to stay longer and meet with your coach so that you can learn the quicker offense style. And if you are taller, and more able to block, you just may play right-side. Allowing you to hit and set. Good luck!

this is my freshman year at v-ball and i was put on the freshmen team. i wanted to make jv or varsity but didnt have a choice. the varsity coach just took the tall people and that was that. im not tall but i do have good skills so it was kinda unfair. but dont feel bad if you dont get the postition you want. it will all pass and you will love the sport.

You'll do fine!
You have an equal chance to make it as her.
Even if you don't make varsity, atleast you'll still be playing.
You can watch varsity games so you knwo what to improve on for next years try-outs, so you know what the coaches are looking for.
