At the break, the balls seem to stay clustered moreso than on other tables. I thought my rails or bumpers had lost spring, but it seems more likely that the balls are dead as they don't have a lot of action from the rackpoint. Do billiard balls have a rubber or cork core like other types of balls i.e. golf and baseball?

We're kind of loud and crazy, we have both males and females on the team, and nothing about sharks or fishes or something like that. I'd appreciate your help. Our last two names were "One Time, One Time" and "Straight Crooked", both of which are pretty stupid!

He had a substance put in his chalk to give it a great grip on the Cue..anyone know what it was. I played him in 1969 and he showed me and gave me one piece of chalk. Is it legal? I don't know..but he told very few people about it and he hustled alot.
In truth he was a loud mouthed rude guy. But watching the cue draw 3 rails sort of made you forget the nature of the shooter. And he could do it time after time......

On a personal note, I've been very impressed with some of the other answers and questions in this category, in particular those by "vliam" and "eightbreaker". It's apparent they have more than a passing interest in the game.

I believe that everyone should be more specific about which country they are from and which particular game they are referring to. I've noticed many disagreements between people, not because one was more correct than the other, but because they were coming from different points of view. I answered a question regarding the differences between cue balls in bar tables and I was correct in my response. However, I only was thinking about American bar tables, so I take some blame for that. When people ask about cues, they should specify which game they will be playing. I think that both the askers and the answerers would benefit from this information. M.D.-BCA Instructor/Referee (USA)

I was at a pub the other day and these two blokes had £100 bet on a game of pool, unforntunately one of them potted the black on the break, they had a massive arguement over what happens, is it:

a)Breaker wins?
b)Breaker looses
c) Re - rack the balls?
