Do you believe that it's better to completely ignore your opponent as if they don't exist and only play the table, or to be aware of your opponent and use them as motivation? I tend to lean towards the latter because I believe it goes against human nature to ignore your opponent. I believe that your opponent most definitely does factor into your game. Why do you think this idiot keeps posting about how great ping pong is in the pool and snooker section? Does he think he's going to convert us into hanging out at ping pong bars on friday nights? Did he get hustled out of his welfare check at a pool hall? Did his girlfriend dump him for some guy she met at a pool hall?

Any other ideas?

Can someone explain APA rules??
And no links they will not go to them-Yeah more email bout raggin on the APA if you peopke will notice if it is asked as an APA question We let a APA player answer the question
If you ask about a rule in pool Yes you will get a BCA Answer
We are BCA players If a kid builds a soap box derby car that does not mean he can be on a Nascar Pit crew Maybe someday but not yet
If any APA player ever decides to turn pro then you may find the rules helpful-or stay on a team from the Y'all come back saloon and play anyway you want to
Later Johnny
OH and thank all 6 of you for the email

illinois has a statewide smoking ban, starting jan 1st 08. i am a non-smoker myself, and do not agree with it. I believe if anything, each establishment should have to set up and maintain smoke eaters, to the square foot of their rooms. Poolhalls and bars with tables and without tables, cannot take this hit! i know a few of my really good friends who enjoy playing, will stay at home and play, so they can have their cigs. There are many many small hometown bars, which i see them loosing 75% of their business because of this. I know some will say, they can stepoutside and smoke, which is true, but for the trouble of going outside every 15 minutes, fighting the weather, unsafe outside at some places. People will get tired of that, and make a habit of staying home, or to a friends house. What about leagues? At 1996 us open, i bet more than 1/2 of the players stood outside, just to smoke everyday. can billiards take another hit at this point in struggling time. What will happen to bca pop?

I've been playing billiards with my friends at school but we don't have a really good understanding of the rules. Hopefully if you guys could, provide me with a simple explanation of some of the rules cause the ones online have been hard to understand. Clarification for 8 ball

If a player hits the cue ball without striking any balls, this is considered a scratch correct? any exceptions?

If a player hits the cue ball striking the suit that is not his first, then it is a scratch?

When a player scratches, they are allowed to place the ball anywhere on the table correct?

Is it a scratch when the player hits the 8 ball first when they have other balls that they shoudl be trying to hit first?

If these are too hard to understand (sorry), coudl you just explain to me what is considered a scratch and any exception to that? Also the placement of the ball when a scratch occurs.

Thanks for the help

I am just a beginner, but I really like playing pool. In America I only played pool when I went to bars with friends. I am not very fond of bars, so I'd like to know which are places specifically good for playing a game of pool (beginner or professional anything)
