I play pool, 8 and 9 ball mostly and play at the local bars often as well as thier weekly tournaments when work allows. I lose to the same people every week and it is kind of disheartening. I want to expand playing pool and possibly begin the journey to go pro. I live in Tallahasee Florida but I travel to Cincinnati often. Thanks.

If you put all the billiard balls on a pool table at random, and then took a cat and placed it on the table, and put a cage around the table so the cat wouldn't leave, how long would it take for the cat to bat all of the balls into the pockets?

Is this true that if you have a metal jointed cue the weight will tend to tilt towards the center more creating a straighter stroke? Also, do longer tapers or shorter tapers help to keep a stroke straighter in line? I think i would personally prefer a 12-14inch taper because i take slightly longer strokes, does this sound right? thank you

recently i was taking a look at some exotic "philippine cues" on ebay, but i did not understand how they sell for so cheap. They have pearl inlays and lots of detail, but they are sleeing for $40.00 Does anyone kno how this is possible, will I get cheated outta my money if i decide to give these cues a try?
It seems to good to be true.heres the link if anyone wants to take a look at them and tell me what they think. thanks.http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?sofocus=bs&sbrftog=1&from=R10&satitle=philippine+cues&sacat=-1%26catref%3DC6&sargn=-1%26saslc%3D2&sadis=200&fpos=07624&ftrt=1&ftrv=1&saprclo=&saprchi=&fsop=1&fsoo=1

Studies have shown that on average, over 40 million Americans play pool at least once per year, over twice the number that play golf. Yet, golf has it's own cable network. Pool is a year-round activity and far more affordable and accessible to the average person. What reasons can you come up with why it's so hard to find decent pool coverage on cable TV. Yes, I know that there are matches scattered here and there, but they generally tend to be few and far between and nearly always featuring the same game with the same players. Why can't there be a 24/7 network with pool programming? There could be classic matches from the 50's to the present. There could be instructional programs. There could be infomercials for different pool suppliers and their merchandise. I'm sure I'm just scratching the surface. Would you agree that there is a real demand and interest in this game?

I am seriously considering on spending a solid 300-350 dollars on a viking cue that should hopefully last me for years to come in the future. before i do so though, I would like to kno peoples opinions that have played with viking before, my main question is are they a well balanced cue? I do NOT want a cue that is back weighted, id rather have a cue weighted more towards the center as i like to take long strokes when i shoot and use lots of finesse.Anyone have lots of experience with a viking i would appreciate the help. Thanks

Its like delayed reaction, click on a card and it moves slow and jerky. The pool balls don't roll, they jerk themselves around. Is it a problem thats fixable, I was offline for a couple weeks and it worked fine befor that.

continuing on my quest for my 2nd cue, I was wondering if anyone have advice on cues that are neither butt heavy nor front heavy. I am looking for a very well balanced cue, being that my first cue was rear heavy and very annoying to cope with and stroke with. Also, do more inlays on the cue mean more weight towards the back and a more back weighted cue? Does the price of a cue go up the less back weighted it is? any advice is appreciated .

I was thinking about purchasing my 2nd cue soon but i was alittle confused on which shaft to go with, it seems like shafts with a longer taper seem like youd have a straighter stroke. Do u have to personally specifiy the length of the taper? What is a good length before the cue starts get broad? I wa sthiking baout buying the red dot shaft off meucci company. Anyone have opinions on this topic?

When I see the professional pool players break, they appear to jump, but you're supposed to always have at least one foot on the floor. Are they cheating?

We are thinking of purchasing a pool table to on our outside patio and under a roof. It would be completely under cover, but exposed to the heat and humidity of the Florida sun. We have been told that a table made of oak and or teak would weather well, but I'm still concerned about warpage and oxidation.
We've considered outdoor pool tables, but they are very expensive. Please reply with your experiences of having a pool table undercover but outside.

Start of pool game shows timer box above left middle pocket. Can't tell how many seconds timer is set for BEFORE starting pool game. Then if I don't want to play with short seconds it is too late to cancel. I have to forfeit and lose points.
