So... what is you prefrence for Deer, Geese, Ducks, Turkey, Gamebirds, Jack-Rabbits, Skeet etc? Do you prefer SxS, O/U, Pump, Semi, or Single Shot? Favorite brand and gauge? Here's your chance to brag but I want to know why you like yours best.

I am getting a 45-70. Does this have to be black powder or what about smokeless and the 45-70 government?

It should be a very popular round for silhouette shooting and mid-sized game.

The .260 sounds like a dream cartridge.
Ballistic coefficient ~0.5.
Less recoil than the 7mm Remington Magnum.
Better ballistics than the 6.5 X 55.

Somewhere, they even use a 6.5 as a sniper round.

Any reasons?

I have a Mossberg 500a-(Shotgun)

I shot clay pigeons today for the first time, and now I'm hooked. I have been target shooting for well over fifteen years with rifles and handguns, but I've hardly ever touched a shotgun until today. I fired a 410, 20, and 12 gauge. In the 20, I shot a pump and a semi. Obviously, I liked the semi-auto the best, but I'm not ruling out a pump. I'm looking for quality, but not too expensive. I doubt whether I'll ever hunt, so this will be strictly for trap.

Building an AR-15 for my girlfriend. She is short (small for a chinese woman) and thin. I've put a 16 inch collapsible stock m-4 style in her hands and she seemed o.k. with it. My thoughts are something she can shoot club side matches and otherwise play around with. Has anyone built an ar under similar circumstances? Got any suggestions? Also, is the 243 25 wssm gaining any ground? Can you use an m4 buffer, spring, etc with a 25wssm upper? I know it will be a bit unbalanced but I am thinking of her using this for deer season.

Yesterday I took my friend to the range, and my idiot friend mistakenly loaded and fired a .40 cal bullet through my .45 1911 handgun. The spent cartridge lodged in the barrel, and I had to have it dislodged by the range gunsmith, who then inspected the gun to see if it was still ok to fire (although it seems that the rifling in the barrel seems a little scratched up). He did say it was ok, and we shot about 50 more .45 cal bullets through it and it worked fine.

My question is, how will this affect the gun in the long run?

Additionally, my idiot friend has a degree in computer science. I can't stop thinking about how much i want to kick his *** for being so stupid. How do I get over that?

I found it under my mammy's bed. My sister said that i should look down the barrel and pull the trigger. I'm not sure though...
