A 9mm is a 0.354" or so. .45" is an 11.4mm.
So the 45 is bigger, like everyone else already said :-)
Typical weight of a 45 is 230gr and a 9mm is 115gr, exactly half as heavy. Volume is a cube law, so the difference in weight is much more than the diference in diameter.

If you're talking about pistol bullets the 9mm Parabellum typically shoots a .355 to .356" (9.03mm) bullet of perhaps 115 grains (7.5 grams) in weight. The 45 ACP bullet is .451 to .452" (11.48mm) diameter and 230 grains (14.9 grams) weight. Note that I'm just guessing which cartridges you're talking about, and other cartridges will have slightly different specifications. It would be useful if you'd be more clear about the cartridge in future questions.

.45 inches is 11.43 mm.
.45 ACP bullets weigh up to twice what 9mm weighs, as well, at 230 grains vs 115 grains.
