When fishing from a boat who is familiar with the figure eight technique once the lure is nearing the boat which entices a strike from the predator. Have you tried it, and did it work for you. Tell us your story what kind of fish was it.

It is a large fish over 3 feet long. It is not a bony fish; it has the bone pattern similar to a catfish. It has a soft meat. The fish comes to the surface every half hour or so to get a breath of air. I cannot find any information on it and I wondered if there is another name for it.

Why is it when people say they are going fishing in Alaska and ask for suggestions they don't say where they are fishing?

It would help to know if you are going to be fishing in the saltwater, or in a river, or at a lake. Each place requires different gear. How can we help you with so little information?

I need to go to Raleigh later this week and wonder if I should go to Virginia Beach on the way or after I get there go somewhere on North Carolina Coast.
Not looking to catch anything specific just go where some action is.

Are the areas still a mess from weather?

I might also go to Falls Lake but I won't be bringing a boat. It is only10 minutes from my sisters house.
Thanks Marty

What is the best method to hook a shark? Every time I get one to take the bait I let them run and then I usually end up jerking the bait out of their mouth when I try to set the hook. I think maybe Im using the wrong hooks, what size should I use and should I use circle hooks because I currently do not. Is there a way to set up a leader with 2 or more hooks and is that a good idea? What is a good leader design? Im open to any suggestions, basically I need help from start to finish, from proper gear, methods of attracting and actually fighting the shark. thanks

I am going on a ten day fishing trip to Alaska with my Dad and Grandpa. I've never been there so I wanted to know some things to take I might have overlooked.
