Go here to Learn a little; http://www.memphisnet.net/nets.html
I not say this the best place to buy. You can do Searches for "Hoop Nets" "Gill Nets" Fishing Nets" and see what you find.
Hoop Nets just like they sound, think "Hula Hoop" it use different sizes that Taper down. Normally the Mouth is Turned Down Stream and fish swim into it. It is Anchored at the Narrow/Closed end. Use a Float with a small rope to find your Sunk net and pull up from the open end which is also Anchored to keep it open. Drop rear Anchor and pull down Stream and then lower front anchors to hold open.
Gill Nets are like a regular net and are put across a Stream opening into a river or along the river banks.
Be very sure these Nets are well tied and Anchored down to avoid Boats/Props.
You not want them in the main channel of a River as Debris will catch in your net and rip it up, some fish will do this and you do need to mend your nets from time to time. There are different types of line used, some look like large Fishing Line for a Rod and Reel and some like Regular Nylon String. I like the Nylon, but, I think the other is cheaper. Bass Fishermen will cut your nets if they get their Lure Hooked, as that an easy way to remove it. Check your nets once a day. Do some Shopping for a good Quality Net and a Good Price. As you shop you learn more about this and will get a good Deal. Take good care of your Nets. They are not cheap. ;-)
Good Luck! This about all I know to tell you.

You can pretty much get a fishing net at any sporting goods store, or any store that has a sporting goods section in it. Fishing nets are typically used to catch larger fish after they have been caught with a fishing rod. The net, after the fish has been reeled in as close to the shore or boat as possible, is placed in the water to catch the fish, and release tension on the fishing line.

Fishing nets can also be used alone in small creeks or streams where there is abundunt running water. For those types of fishing conditions, it may be best to acquire a fishing net with the smallest holes possible, for it will be smaller fish you will be catching. Please check local fishing laws and licenses in your area for fishing with a net. It is sometimes illegal during some seasons and some areas.
