packing. Figo will be banned for at least one game. Are the English lucky or what (here's the question), playing against a team without at least 4 of their stars (Rinaldo, Figo,..). For the first time I cheered for the Dutch, Portugal's acting and performance was a disgrace to football.

England will be meeting Portugal in the Quarterfinals on Saturday and the Portuguese will also be without two key players who were red-carded, including Deco (likely their best player). Terrible though the referee was for this match tonight against the Netherlands, as an England supporter I'm pretty chuffed right now. :)

COME ON, ENGLAND!!!

That stupid Mandate of Cracking down on the game has really tainted the game with Artificial Yellow cards been given out by the refrees!! Match ups(games) are being influenced by stupid and unneccessary yellow cards which are leading to unjustified suspensions of players.

British TV having a field day... over this match... "The Portuguese have got no players left... that is ridiculous refereeing !" Haven't we seen it all before ?

I've just watched the Portugal vs Netherlands match and I am just astonished at the horrendous level of officiating by these referees. The referee for the Italy vs USA match of a week ago was equally atrocious and I'm sure Korean fans feel the same about the ref for their game against Switzerland. There is a very definite pattern here of too many players being booked. The Russian referee for tonight's match tied the all-time record for most yellow and red cards handed out in a game (16) and overall they've already broken the all-time record for most red cards handed out at a World Cup. This is just pitiful. Comments?

Do the red cards issued in the second round of the World Cup carry through for the rest of it? Or are they wiped out.. For instance, do the red cards issued during the Portugal/Netherlands game stay with the players or are they wiped out after they advance?

I watched the match and it says that David Beckham was the Man of the Match but later when i got onto fifaworldcup.com they said it was John Terry who was the Man of the Match. I'm not sure which one is the truth but I really think that David Beckham is the Man of the Match because 1. John Terry didnt do that much and 2. he scored the winning goal. So...which one is the Man of the Match?
