England will be meeting Portugal in the Quarterfinals on Saturday and the Portuguese will also be without two key players who were red-carded, including Deco (likely their best player). Terrible though the referee was for this match tonight against the Netherlands, as an England supporter I'm pretty chuffed right now. :)

COME ON, ENGLAND!!!

Possibly three players missing! Aren't FIFA oifficials able to give Figo a red card retrospectively for his head butt, he got a yellow, but surely after seeing what happened he'll be given a red. I was sceptical that England would be able to get much further (even though they showed more promise and glimmers of hope in the last game), but now they have a very good chance of progressing.
I can imagine that it was the best possible outcome for an England supporter.

I'll be the first to admit that I was hoping it would come down to Portugal and England with England winning but I would have much rather seen both teams evenly matched from the git-go. Yes, the Portugal vs. Netherlands game was dirty but whose responsible for letting the game get totally out of control?

They will be excited alright because they know it is the only way they will have a chance at playing Portugal. I think Portugal will still beat England anyway. The Portuguese play a smarter and faster game. And they have more skill than the English team.

Well, look at the referee, that guy was throwing cards EVERYWHERE, even to people who didn't deserve it.
I mean i guess having half a team with yellow cards is the only way england can win i guess, or if Portugal shoots the ball in their own goal.

I think it will play a role, but not huge. I do think that ref will never ref higher than the little kid leagues again and Netherlands should have at least had a tie and had a shoot-out opportunity. That kick to the chest by portugal should have been a penalty shot.

Good luck to England!

(Just pray they won't meet Brazil!;))

Edit:

Oops!! We're out!:(

After both Brazil and England lost and were eliminated, yesterday, this World Cup lost interest for me and,I'm sure, for you, too.

We must now try to find other reasons to smile,like...

The Buffalo Bills

and,in October,

The Great Come Back of The Sabres!!!:)

yep...today the referee just kept on going England's luck....but i think nothing can help them...they will just lose the game...even with 2 players suspended...at least the players received yellow cards only for faulting ...not like England's players ...for stretching the time...on a team like Ecuador

Moreover, Beckham has also started to find the way to again "bend it". Things aren't looking good for the Portugal team...

Only way that the s**tty English side was getting into the semis.

How much did they pay the Russian ref, anyway? Give him free citizenship to England so he can get out of Russia?
