My daughter is nearly 6 and enjoys watching football on TV. We'd love to take her to a live match, but feel the whole experience is very un-child friendly. The crowds pushing and shoving, the seating that means she wouldn't be able to see properly...it all means she won't get to go for years yet.

Is there anything that clubs could do to change things?

I sometimes wonder about these football characters

"He [Souness] has just gone behind my back in front of my face." - Craig Bellamy

"When you make a mistake, that becomes a mistake." - Terry Venables

"When you're 4-0 up you should never lose 7-1" - Laurie McMenemy

"I think this could be our best victory over Germany since the war" - John Motson

Ron Atkinson
"The keeper should have saved that one but he did"
"If Glenn Hoddle said one word to his team at half time, it was concentration and focus"
"I would not say David Ginola is the best left winger in the Premiership, but there are none better"
"Well, Clive, it's all about the two M's. Movement and positioning"
"Now Manchester United are 2-1 down on aggregate, they are in a better position than when they started the game at 1-1"

David Beckham
"My parents have been there for me, ever since I was about 7"
"We're definitely going to get Brooklyn christened, but we don't know into which religion"

1. Do not pick players on ability but on the size of their salaries
2. You are only permitted to play half fit strikers if any
3. Do not practice penalties
4. You are required to change the formation every game
5. You goalkeeper must be prone to make mistakes
6. You must never allow your players to practice technique
7. Never allow your players to qualify to a tournament
8. In the event they mistakenly qualify make sure they lose in the quarter finals if not before
9. Your team are required to be complete strangers on the pitch
10. You must select Beckham (even if he's on crutches) as his wife told you to
11. It is not permitted for you to remain in your post after 2 years
12. You must accept the £2 million that the FA pay you to clear off

Do you think they played any better or was it the same old rubbish? I thought Robinson was much improved and Jenas had an outstanding game but as for the rest I wasnt overly impressed as usual. A draw is a better result than losing again, but it still wasnt a good perfrmance. Have I got it all wrong? was i watching a different game to the one you saw? were there any other positives what is your opinion?

I was at the match but would like to know the song played at the end of coverage. The Beeb usually choose a song that reflects the mood of the nation.

We have time !!! But not that much time !!!
HOW ARE WE GOING TO DO WELL for 2010 ?
Let's have suggestions on radical CHANGE on two fronts:
( 1 ) the MANAGER -- I am petrified of having some second rate manager put in charge and we will all be angry again in one year's time with the likes of Alan Shears (no, please, no Alan Shear!). If not Mourinho (he turned the job down) nor Scholari (who did the same)... then WHO ?! Please not another copy of Keegan.Remember Euro2000(?)
( 2 ) PLAYERS -- Please be a manager. Be a Mourinho or a Scholari and ignore the present players. Bring in your knowledge of YOUNGER less known players. (eg. look at the Portugal team... young... No more Figo... so please forget about Beckham.)
I will read your comments analysis and remarks with great intrest. Thanks
