Football (American) - August 2006

All pre-season, I've been watching refs give offensive squads free yards, downs and points, because the big meanies, on the defenses, have hurt their feelings by saying something unkind to them, after laying the smack down on them. Come on! How weak is that? The league has been getting softer and softer over the past few years: no looking hard at the QB; no helmet to helmet; no hitting receivers unless they have the ball, and even then they have to make sure not to do it too hard; no taunting or celebrating... SOON, no tackling period; defensive players will only be allowed to run-up and say gotcha.

Am I wrong, or has the NFL gone soft?

I just saw the movie invincible, the vince Papale story. I noticed that they ended the movie after he scored his first touchdown. I admire Papale for his determination and heart, but does anyone know if he did any other significant things while playing for the eagles?

What type of tape or glue do you use? I attempt velcro, but it wouldn't stick.

Thanks

Is there a stat showing how many times a QB has been pressured in a game/year and if so where can I find it? You can find where QBs have been sacked all day long, but it is not so easy, at lest for me to find something showing how many times the QB has been running for his life, is that recorded anywhere?

Thx for any help, John B.

Imagine this scenerio... Notre Dame, West Virginia and Oklahoma all go undefeated this season.

Who plays in the national championship game?

West Virginia probably gets left out in the cold because their schedule is not nearly as tough as Notre Dame or Oklahoma. But is that fair?

(PS... tell me what you think about the BCS not what you think of my scenerio. I was just giving an example. Please don't write 30 lines about how much you think ND sucks.)

I used to see these ads for a mortgage company that featured Dan Marino with his dad Dan Marino Sr. They look exactly the same (one is older of course) and Dan Sr. is as bald as a cue ball. Then everytime I've seen Dan Jr. on TV I can't help but think his hair looks like one of those hair restoration ads. Is it hair plugs, a toupee, bad weeve or some combination? I have pretty good hair-dar and it goes off everytime I see Dan Marino on TV.

To me, it seems like the political methods of President Bush his white house cabient, "Let the media know only what you want it to know" has rubbed of in Texas. Mainly, it has spread to the Dallas Cowboys owner and coach. Jones is to Bush as Parcells is to Cheney as TO is the MOAB (The Mother Of All Bombs). He is the Cowboys secret weapon and I am both a Cowboys fan and soldier in the US Army, glad I am on the side of the ones with the big "Guns."
