Coach John L. Smith has seemed to have a consistant problem season after season. After a loss, he can't get his team focused. Two seasons ago the Spartans started the season 3-0, ended 4-8. Last season started 4-0, ended 5-7. This season started 3-0, lost to Notre Dame to go 3-1, then lost to Illinois (questionably the worst team in the Big Ten) and are now 3-2. The next two weeks are Michigan and Ohio State, so with how we played today they need a miracle to not be 3-4 in two weeks. When the Spartans are focused they can compete with anyone in the leaque, last season holding with Ohio State for much of the game, losing to Michigan in overtime and beating Notre Dame. This season dominating Notre Dame until the 4th Quarter. Since that 4th quarter we've only had two offensive touchdowns. Should Michigan State fire John L. Smith for not being able to stay consistant. And if so, should they persue Steve Mariouchi?
