What type of tape or glue do you use? I attempt velcro, but it wouldn't stick.

You can use double-sided tape on the the should pads.
Also, spray like crisco or some non-stick cooking thing on the outside. This helps big-time if you are a playing on the line because the D or O can't pull your jersey and hold you.
