I understand how to work out run rates if winning team has batted first. but if they bat second they win by wickets. Yesterday england won by 4 wickets. how do you work it out then?

to the chance of improving a teams run rate?

it has been explained that the losing teams run rate is deducted from the winning teams run rate....

so if a team posts a score..say..of 300 and bowls a team out for 100 in 30 overs they will reap a rich reward.

however if they bat second and their opponents only score 100 the most amount of runs your team can score is 101-106

so, is it better to bat first, or is there a scenario where its possible to get as large a run rate in beating a team thats posted a low score....
ie do you get any run rate advantage for bowling that team out quickly.

also am i right in thinking that the number of wickets you lose has no bearing on the calculations for run rates?

in essence i am asking if your opportunity to improve your run rate is severely compromised if you bat second and your opponents set a low score.

One of the toppers in the blame- list for the dismal performance of the Indian cricketet team, espically in the world cup, has been brand endorsement. Many are of the opinion that the huge money involved is shifting the priority of the men in the blue. The cricket board has decided to put a cap on the number of endorsements by the players. So whats your opinion about this if the cricketers should advertise Products?????

The following are the arguments in favour of Kaif.
1. He was the capitain of the only under 19 world cup winning squad.
2. He was vice captain of the only under 15 world cup winning squad
3. He was part of the world cup squad that went to the final of the world cup 2003
4. He has captained UP to Ranji trophy champinships in tests and ODI's
5. He plays terrifically under pressure
6. He can field and save 20-30 runs
7. His absence in this edition of the world cup showed as the fielding was pathetic, the running between the wickets left a lot to be desired and there was no one to stay at one end as all big hitters went hammer and tongs and got no where
8. He was left out of the team to the world cup inspite of being the second highest scorer in the West Indies ODI's and scoring a big test century there. The series against West Indies should have been won had not Yuvraj Singh messed up the second ODI and the rain factor
9. He was the man of the series against Bangladesh last time

I think lucky chucker. throws it worse than Murali. if he had a straight arm he would struggle to bowl 100km/h.
