My guess is because there were 2 sequences of 3 wickets in a row: 1, 2, 3 and 2, 3, 4.

4 wickets in 4 balls is not at all called or considered as double hat trick. The feat is considered only as a hat trick.

To get SIX wicket in a row will be extremely unlikely, so they give that term to 4 wickets in a row.
It's just the way it is. Just like a stike and spare on bowling and a birdie and eagle and albatross in golf. They are just terminology.

Good question
Because it was never done before and they had to quickly think of a name for it.
What will they call five wickets in a row if someone ever does it.
