I am 21yrs old and I live in Washington DC not a very popular place when it comes to Street Racing and NASCAR stuff. I have no experience in fixing cars and I know very little about fixing them although I really want to learn. I love cars and dream of racing everyday, it’s the only thing I can see myself doing, that or DJing. I have no clue as to how to start or get into the racing scene, no one around me is into cars like me. I want to be an apprentice to someone who is a racer or who customizes cars I would also love to open my own customization shop one day.

I had a few questions about water injection I was hoping someone could address.

Does water injection work with gasoline engines at all? I know its used with diesels with success.

How does water compare to methanol? Water has higher specific and latent heat compared to methanol, but I assume methanol also has desirable qualities as a fuel in itself.

No random guesses please!

I am 16 and I want to pursue a racing career.

But I dont know if i have the funding to start it. How can i go about doing this?

Do go-kart racing leagues require you to own your own kart to race in it? or will the provide one?

Any advice at all would help.

PS: I live in seattle area, and I am signed up for newsletters from Grand Prix Raceways, a go-karting establishment in Tacoma, and recently got a newsletter saying "The NW Indoor Karting Championships will return to GPR on Sunday, April 1st. We will have more fabulous prizes and a 200cc Pro class with a $500 purse for the top three drivers."

And "For Kart Racers there will be a pre-season Kart Prep seminar on February 21st at 7:00PM hosted by Dave Lehmann and 2006 Rotax Max National Champion Mike Rolison. Contact Dave at GPR for a flyer."

I think that IRL racing now is more exciting than NASCAR because of the open wheel to wheel racing, side by side, lap after lap at 200 MPH and faster. To bad they can't get a bigger car count tho.

Pretty good website with lots of other race fans on myracer.com. It has a little something for almost every race fan. And no, I'm not getting anything out of this free plug.

I am trying to find out where to get, headers, heads, camshaft, stronger rods, pistons, super or turbo charger, black rims, lowering kit, black out or caron fiber head and tail lights, and a molded rear bumper to put the tail pipes on both sides straight out the back. Just let me know some companies and websites and I will be a happy man. And don't tell me that "it is an SRT-10 its fast enough" I already know what I drive and I know how fast it is, but I want it faster. Thanks.

In my opinion you have Barry Sheen, Kevin Swantz and Valentino Rossi. It's not an important question, its just for fun!! If it was on looks as well as 'performance' i would say Valentino Rossi, but i'm not that shallow...Hell yes i am...........!

I doubt that dressed in street clothes, Bourdais would be recognized in public by many people. Amazing that a person can win a national championship at the top level of auto racing in America three times and still be so unknown. Champcar's PR department is dropping the ball on this one, I think.

No offense to NASCAR fan's, (I'm from NC, so please don't accuse me of being from somewhere that isn't familier with the sport), but the more that I have observed the sport, the more fishy it seems. I realize that awful things have happened (Earnhardt, Adam Petty's unfortunate passing), and am not putting those situations down, but it seems suspicious of who wins at certain places sometime (how many times has Jimmy Johnson won at Lowe's Motor Speedway in his #48 Lowes Monte Carlo?)

I'm 19 years old and dream of racing motorcycles. I know all about how to get involved in "dirt bike" racing but would love any information about getting some wheels on to tarmac. I'm especially interested in racing 125cc-250cc machines of any age or spec.
