first of u need a car u know dat, a car i would use is a mishubishi car like the lancer or like the EVO those are pretty good cars for this type of racing. U need to tighen the suspension and add some porformence things like a direct intake and i would make the exaust direct to so u hav more torque, thats just simple things that u do to the car after get some good wheels that hav good grip and find a big open place where u hav room to accelerate and do wide turns, so u r able to hav room for mistakes. Just practice making 180 turns sideways turns and just sliding the car a thing that can help u in doin that is weting the floor a bit but not too much cause then u wont be able to control the car like u would like.
good luck n hav fun

P.S. u might want to get to know some people that drift so they can help u better than wat i hav said i just gave you basic tips

Ok, Drift Racing shouldn't be classified as "racing" but thats another topic.

basically any RWD car which is fairly light, and easy to work on.
Many people choose nissan 240sx's.
You dont need all the power in the world to drift.
I think you may have the wrong idea.
It takes a driver with good reflex, feel for balance, a good understanding of car dynamics (like how brakes and clutches work and such). You also NEED money to do this. Those little inline 4's and Inline 6 engines need rebuilds (not cheap), and your drivetrain gets alot of stress. Steering system needs to be modified for larger angles. Maybe you should check out Autocross events to learn to handle a car at its limit.

But if you were building the ultimate drift car. I think a modern fuel injected v8, like an ls2 or ls7 would be great, gobs of torque, less maintanance, more power with less modifications. maybe a chassis like something with "truck arm" rear suspension with a good strong rear end, like a ford 9", on the front macpherson struts are good. the goal would be as close to 50/50 weight distribution. a good solid transmission w/ synchronisers(if standard) and oil coolers (if auto). and alot of fans for cooling

If you want to be different, get an old Mazda RX-3. You can get 600+ hp out of the Wankel. Put a roll bar and a 5 point harness in it.

It takes some skill to do that. Of course you have to be knowledgeable about skid and friction. Don't try it without being trained.
