Just read the Race to Dakar book by Charlie Boorman - absolutely brilliant! has anyone out there done it and do you have any thoughts/experiences to share

My son has the book you mention and would love to one day do the Dakar. He races motocross and supercross at the moment and has done some enduro.

No but love to do, what an experience mind you Charlie and Ewan are about to go off on other adventure going around the world as they did in the Long Way Round.
Oh to be rich and famous with bike sponsors jumping to get you to use their bikes,dream on it will never happen to me......

I did it on my 1970 Chopper...it was truly the ride of my life...going to do it again next year on my sister's three wheeler
