The Corvette wins by default, it is the only true sports car that wears a Chevy emblem. The base models are good, the Z06 is better, and the ZR1 will probably be great. The Corvette is an American icon, just like apple pie, Coca Cola, and cowboy hats.

You can't talk about dollar amounts without mentioning an era.

Before 1990, almost every mass-produced car on the road cost less than $25,000. Today, about the only thing with any muscle that costs less than $25,000 is a Mazda Miata, and that's not really a "muscle car".

I am, however, partial to the Mazda RX-8 (a four door sportscar?) which can be had for less than $30,000 (240BHP).

Hi. 1986 Mazda RX7. I have a '93 Mustang LX with power adders, but nothing I drove ever handled like that RX7. Except some fast motorcycles.

30 years ago all sports cars cost under $25K. I owned a prelude and loved the car. Look out for the Altima coupe coming out in the summer. Looks like a winner.

Well if you count the price back when they were made, I'd have to say the 1968 Shelby Gt-500.
