Well are you talking about stock cars? And if so, what price range are you talking about?
Are you talking about modified cars? Are you talking about cars like F1 cars?
If you are looking into Exotic cars, you have the McClaren F1 which is I believe the fastest car that was produced.
But there is a 1994 Dauer 962 Lemans which is the fastest 0-60mph car, but thats built for the Lemans races.
Then theres the Bugatti 16/4 Veyron.
Saleen S7, Ferrari Enzo.
Those are just a few that are fastest accelarating cars.

The fastest accelerating production car in the world is the Bugatti Veyron:
0-60mph(100kph): 2.5 seconds
0-100mph(160kph): 5.5 seconds
0-200kph(125mph): 7.3 seconds
0-150mph(240kph): 11.3 seconds
0-186mph(300kph): 16.7 seconds
0-200mph(320kph): 22.2 seconds
0-top speed(253mph/407kph): 55 seconds (theoretical top speed is actually 257mph/414kph). And these acceleration figures are more incredible considering the fact that the Veyron weighs 1,888 kg.
There are a few cars that can reach 100kph in 3.2 seconds (Koenigsegg CCR, McLaren F1, Ferrari Enzo).

jezusjone... is right aside from the jet cars they have almost zero torque, their top end is faster but nothing accelerates quicker than a top fuel drag racer going from a standing start to 340 mph in 4 seconds, next fastest would be a funny car

fastest accelerating "car" would be a top fuel/funny car dragster...0- 333 mph in 4 seconds give or take in a quarter mile....what can top that???then i would say a lemans car of some sort, then maybe bugatti veyron ,and then the mercedes mclaren slk, porche carrera 996 tt awd would make my guess for the top five

The fastest accelerating car ever is the Ford Escort RS200 - 1-60 in under 3 seconds. Cosworth turbo motor, 4 wheel drive, up to 650hp. No one has beaten it yet. You needed a current professional race licence and log books before Ford would sell you one!

I don't know about five, but I do know about two, Indy cars, and Drag racers. Both of these speed demons go from 0-60 in seconds, 0-100 in seconds, so forth and so on.

if your talking STOCK, what are the five fastest-accelerating cars...first would be the Bugatti veyron, probably followed by the McLaren F1, 1968 S/S Barracuda, Saleen S7, and Ferrari Enzo....
