i like stuff about the supernatural, i read about it on various websites and many people claim to have changed their eye colour whilst in a trance, sounds dumb, but it's fascinating at the same time, i'd just like to know if anyone has had this experience.

you woke up in heaven and god wasn't there? Let's say you go to heaven and all the souls there tell you that this is definitely heaven but god left before they all got there. No one knows where he went, he just left a sign that said, "out to lunch". I'm not trying to poke fun at anyone's concept of heaven; I'm just asking a theoritical question about how you would feel if you got to your religion's destination and still had no questions answered by a higher power, and your questions about "life" and "self" were still up to you to figure out.

Okay so I was reading Genesis today, and I got to chapter 11 but kept going back to the first two chapters. All my life I've thought that Adam and Eve were the first humans, but the way my bible reads (it's a nasb) it's as though God created humans "male and female he created them". Then had his day of rest THEN after this made a garden, made Adam, made beast to be suitable helpers for Adam but none was found and finally made Eve.. If this is the fact it would explain a lot of the "who did cain marry" questions. It seems as though God made people and set them in motion, but then made Adam and Eve to establish a relationship with them and to set a precedent for what that would be like. Any thoughts on this, esp. from people who've studied the bible and/or gone to seminary would be greatly appreciated.

A Navy captain is on deck of his ship when he notices smoke on the horizon. He commands his ship to go towards the smoke where they find a small island with three grass huts. As they investigated the island they found a man who had claimed to be shipwrecked and living on the island for the last two years. "Are you the only one on this island?" the captain asked. "Yes" was the shipwrecked man's reply. "Why do you need three huts?" asked the captain. The shipwrecked man answered "Well, the first one is my house, and the second one is my church, and the third one is the church I used to belong to."

I'm looking for intellectual answers here, no insults or cheap answers like "because the bible says so" or "because i have faith." Please refrain from Pascal's wager at all cost... that isn't even applicable to this question. Absolutly no scripture.

Just wondering about whether your religious affiliation colors your views on the death penalty. I, an atheist am totally against it in any circumstance viewing it as state sponsored murder (cold blooded vengance), how about you?

The new guideline from the Department of Health and Human Services advises states to help single people in their twenties to steer clear of sexual relations in their fifty million dollar funded Abstinence Education Program. It is not a 'requirement' but a strong suggestion to states to promote this.

When asked, the reason given for this program from the Dept of Health and Human Services is to combat a rise in out-of-wedlock births.

Please share your thoughts and opinions on this.

Reading some of the answers here it really really bothers me that people are so decieved. It makes me wonder how they get through life believing what they believe.

Has education failed us this poorly? Is it the parents? Is it Church?
