If you think like me, then you are probably saying that only sinners need a savior...right?

So if Mary said in Luke 1: 46-47 "My soul glorifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior." She is a sinner. Right? So why do Catholics lift her up as they do? Isn't that idolatry?

He's a figment of your imagination, he has never shown up and he never makes his presence felt unless you're psychotic (in which case you also see Yogi Bear).

Why are you people so afraid of the truth?

when we help someone, even if they don,t know who did it, we still benefit from it by feeling good at what we have done. is that still selfless?........

There are hundreds of monotheistic & polytheistic religions, and I notice that most of non-believers here just keep on teasing Christians.

In my view, real Non-Believers would tease EVERY religion and the concept of "deity" instead of the christian "God" ONLY.

Are they christianised non-believers or what?

It seems so narrow-minded, in my view.

Why did he fast (also an act of worship)
How was he tempted by the devil (did the devil tempt god?)
Why did he say 'may YOUR will be done'. If he is God is it not his will?
Why did he say only the Father knows when the hour is? (does the Father know things that the son doesnt?)

Does the muslim position not make more sense, that he was a great Prophet of God?

Disclaimer: I'm an agnostic, not trying to convert or disconvert anyone.

So, what happens in the mind of a person who stops believing in "God(s)"?

Is it really as simple as "Oh, Evolution, ok well then there is no God is there"?

Obviously the Theory of Evolution and Natural Selection are much deeper than just "vhala"; but you get my point I hope, is there a scientific understanding of the universe that is prerequisite to Atheism/Agnostocism?

Under the current law, approved by a former military dictator in 1979, prosecuting a rape case requires testimony from four witnesses, making punishment almost impossible because such attacks are rarely public.

A woman who claims she was raped but fails to prove her case can be convicted of adultery, punishable by death.

Maulana Fazalur Rahman, a leader of the Islamic coalition, said Tuesday that lawmakers in his group would vacate their seats in the National Assembly if the government tries to get the assembly's approval to change the law.

"We will render every sacrifice for the protection of the Shariah (traditional Islamic) laws," he said at a news conference.

The quote above came from a Yahoo News article. I *want* to respect Islam, but I see things like this and it makes my skin crawl. Is this really what this "peaceful" religion espouses???

1. When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a pleasing odor for the Lord - Lev.1:9. The problem is my neighbors. They claim the odor is not pleasing to them. Should I smite them?

2. I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her?

3. I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her period of menstrual cleanliness - Lev.15:19-24. The problem is, how do I tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offence.

4. Lev. 25:44 states that I may indeed possess slaves, both male and female, provided they are purchased from neighboring nations. A friend of mine claims that this applies to Mexicans, but not Canadians. Can you clarify? Why can't I own Canadians?

5. I have a neighbor who insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2 clearly states he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself?

6. A friend of mine feels that even though eating shellfish is an abomination - Lev. 11:10, it is a lesser abomination than homosexuality. I don.t agree. Can you settle this?

7. Lev. 21:20 states that I may not approach the altar of God if I have a defect in my sight. I have to admit that I wear reading glasses. Does my vision have to be 20/20, or is there some wiggle room here?

8. Most of my male friends get their hair trimmed, including the hair around their temples, even though this is expressly forbidden by Lev. 19:27. How should they die?

9. I know from Lev. 11:6-8 that touching the skin of a dead pig makes me unclean, but may I still play football if I wear gloves?

10. My uncle has a farm. He violates Lev. 19:19 by planting two different crops in the same field, as does his wife by wearing garments made of two different kinds of thread (cotton/polyester blend). He also tends to curse and blaspheme a lot. Is it really necessary that we go to all the trouble of getting the whole town together to stone them? - Lev.24:10-16. Couldn.t we just burn them to death at a private family affair like we do with people who sleep with their in-laws? (Lev.20:14)

now I'm finding it difficult to relax, and keep freaking out when I think certain things. I keep remembering really random stuff as well, as I'm having trouble snapping out of it. I'm convinced I think worst things than everyone else, even though people are always going on about my innocence. How can I go back to normal, without being so paranoid?

Disclaimer: I'm an Agnostic who won't convert unless I talk to God. When talking to people sometimes they try to convert me. Last night was a classic example, as I was told about how God gave the Leviticus dietary laws and played the role of the modern day health department. My reaction was, how fast can I get this person to go away. Intellectually, if I saw a bunch of people dieing from shrimp 4000 years ago, I'd probably write a law about how shrimp was bad. The difference between then and now is then I could say its the word of God, in modern times I would say "this product is banned because we've determined significant health risk". Shrimp is not banned anymore and is probably something we all eat if we enjoy, it never factors into our minds that its against Godlaw in Leviticus 11:9-12.
We do see warning labels on smoking. We read in magazines about the health risk of fast food. But these are based on scientific research.

So what factors contribute to a "conversion"?

One day you will be dead. Oh well. And once dead, that's it. Gone forever. Why do you need god? Does religion really answer so many needs? Is it so hard to face the fact of earthly suffering and human mortality?

In the short time I have been associated to this site , I have asked some interesting questions , some lame questions , some personal quesions , and some provocative questions .
A lot lt of sociology questions .
To my surprise , some of what I thought were better questions , received a fairly low response . As an experiment today I threw religion into the forum , and received a huge mixed response .
The people devoted to both sides of the fence , both devoted to Christianity , In a love hate relationship , swarmed to the bait .
Why is it in many cases , if you ask some one to think for themselves , they turn to a better question where they can boast their ignorance
