I'm afraid I must display my ignorance here. It seems to me that you believe that
1. The universe exploded out of a single atom.
2. From random environmental events, life formed as single cell organisms.
3. These mutated into multicell organisms and eventually every diverse specie we have today.

OR

1. There is an intelligent creator able to create matter, who did so.
2. This creator formed from the matter all manner of living diverse organisms.

Is there a third option? How can anyone say that one of these two makes more sense than the other? I think that both require faith, since it seems that there are either huge holes or huge assumptions in both.

And PLEASE don't respond by correcting technicalities. If you're going to insert smaller steps of evolution, or claim that the Big Bang was slightly different from my understanding, you're not answering the question. Similarly, adding details about God or whatever creator(s) you believe in just won't help.

The 27 books of the New Testament, as known, constitute the fundamental holy scripture of Christianity.

Without the four Gospels according to Matthew, to Mark, to Luke and to John, Christianity is virtually null and void.

Recent epoch-making discoveries of old Sanskrit manuscripts in Central Asia and Kashmir provide decisive proof that the four Greek Gospels have been translated directly from the Sanskrit.

A careful comparison, word by word, sentence by sentence shows that the Christian Gospels are Pirate-copies of the Buddhist Gospels. God's word, therefore, is originally Buddha's word.

Comparison reveals that there is no person, no event, no locality mentioned in the four Christian Gospels not already present in the Buddhist Gospels that, for sure, are far earlier in time than their Christian copies.

I was baptized in a Roman Catholic church but I've read that I'd still be Maronite because my father was.

I need more please

Because they use common sense, logic, evaluate and think before they come to a conclusion.

Because one of the smartest men in history (Albert Einstein) didn't believe in the religious God. That is the God in the Bible along with most other scientist and educated people in our world.

They don't just follow blindly any old stupid thing someone tells them.

They are able to prove their theories with actual evidence and not 'faith'.

They are guided by intelligent thinking and not wishful thinking.

They don't believe in a God that got scared when people built the tower of Babel because he was afraid they would break into his house.

They don't believe in talking asses.

They don't believe that God is talking to them when they hear voices.

They don't believe that drinking holy water and screaming Hail Mary can heal their physical ailments.

If something doesn't make sense, they don't defend it to the death.

Lastly, because they don't believe in God and the bible.

In the matter of whether or not God exists, are the Theists responsible for proving God's existance or are the Aetheists responsible for disproving God's existance? I'm not looking for which side is right. I'm simply trying to figure out who possesses the burden of proof.

I would prefer it if people were to explain their reasoning, but if you just want the 2 points, feel free to just give a one-word answer.

Capitalism is centered around the profit motive and the freedom of the individual and the corporation to pursue that profit. Christianity focuses on the believers forsaking this world in favor of "laying up treasures in heaven." (Matthew 6:20)

I think that a big problem in judaism is that the different denominations have different standards for who is and isnt Jewish. I think that Orthodox Jews should ease thier stndards and the three major movements should come up with a mutual compromise. For example, a person who is rasied reform Jewish but has a Jewish father and not a jewish mother should be considered Jewish if he was truly rasied to be Jewish.

I go to church every saturday(seventh day adventist) , I even participate in most of my church activities. The problem is that I am having a hard time believing the teachings of the bible, everytime my teacher lectures me, I find a way to contradict him.
Sometimes my teacher tells me that we came from adam and even then I tell him that it's not possible, there is a big difference between white and black, and then I mention the native americans and so on. Basically I go to church to argue.
I want to believe everything the bible says, but there is something inside me that makes me doubt most of the teachings.
please help me! I do believe in god, but my teacher tells me that it's not enough believing, but doing what god wants.
What do I do?

i grew up in the church so i can comment on this from both sides. when i became of age my parents let me make my own decision on my beliefs. the questions i have about religion are i think the bible was written to keep people in order years and years ago. their are just to many things that happened in the bible that just don't make sense. miracles don't happen.... i'm sorry they happened in the bible. people don't just have babies without sex, you cannot turn water into wine, do you actually think someone with magical powers parted the seas?, made cripple people walk. proof is in the pudding and things don't make sense to me. if you ask someone who believes they just say he is the almighty... people tell me that you just don't understand the power he has. heaven and hell....are you telling me that you will either float in the sky or burn in hell.. how do you know? show me proof! oh yeah the bible says it right?some guy talks to you in your head and answers you back and tells you stuff?

We never see an agnostic trying to convert anyone, the pattern seems to be that an agnostic is someone like me, a reverse snob who simply says why do you believe what you do and sorta just keeps going until the other person has "faith" and no evidence.

Not that this is snobbish, but its "reverse snobbish".

Its like Socrates, he went around Athens saying, "why do you think x, y, z," and just kept going till he proved them an foolish. Hence the Socratic method.

Socrates was poisoned. Think that has anything to do with it?

Do you want to poison jim_darwin? In the library?

Do you believe you have a soul? If so, do you also believe that other living things have souls? Do animals have souls? What do you believe happens to your soul when you die? If animals have souls what happens to their souls when they die? If human souls go to heaven (according the Christianity etc) then what happens to the animal soul that has no religious faith? I'm not looking for religious dogma just your thoughts on the concept of a soul. Please don't answer if you're just looking for the two points! Thank you for your time!
