The 27 books of the New Testament, as known, constitute the fundamental holy scripture of Christianity.
Without the four Gospels according to Matthew, to Mark, to Luke and to John, Christianity is virtually null and void.
Recent epoch-making discoveries of old Sanskrit manuscripts in Central Asia and Kashmir provide decisive proof that the four Greek Gospels have been translated directly from the Sanskrit.
A careful comparison, word by word, sentence by sentence shows that the Christian Gospels are Pirate-copies of the Buddhist Gospels. God's word, therefore, is originally Buddha's word.
Comparison reveals that there is no person, no event, no locality mentioned in the four Christian Gospels not already present in the Buddhist Gospels that, for sure, are far earlier in time than their Christian copies.

Popeye, you failed to meet the pre-condition of answering the question. Perhaps you need some more spinach?

DougLawrence, you too failed to meet the pre-condition of the question. You are an expert at Catholicism, perhaps its time to study other scriptures too. I would start with Hindu scriptures written in Sanskrit. Might broaden your mind, you know. Or are you scared of it.

Without meaning to incite anything but who was it that decided that God, Buddha, Allah, Vishnu et al, are not one and the same? Just a variation based on area and how stories travelled in those days?
Wouldn't we all be screwed for dismissing any religious figurehead only to die, go to heaven, and discover that we have been wrong??

Sorry not read Buddha Christ thing, but talking from a half Buddhist, half Christian perspective, you obviously have a brain so therefore quoting the film, 'Lock Up' - 'DTA, don't trust anyone.' I'm aware that the Bible has been translated, books omitted, I'm aware of the influence of the church leaders etc (Christmas was an advertising campaign for the church, reincarnation was once accepted as fact etc). But (I also know you are not supposed to start a sentence withn a conjunction) but this is the point where you have to rely on wisdom passed on from 1000's of years ago, and play a thought experiment where the heart is the source of consciousness. You have no reason to trust me, in fact I've advised you otherwise but I feel, as you need to know, to tell you that Jesus existed, it actually happened, maybe not everything, but the very fact Jesus existed and if only he did one of the things the Bible said he did, then the wisdom sank beneath you like a stone?

To directly answer your question, the answer is "no." Christianity spread before the Gospels were available. It spread because people could see the power of The Holy Spirit in people's lives. The written gospels have only been widely available since the invention of printing and the translation of the Bible into local languages.
I must say I am impressed by one aspect of your statement How on earth could the names of Augustus Caesar, Pontius Pilate and the others have appeared in Buddhist documents? How did they think to use names of places in the Roman Empire for the letters? And how did they know about the earthquakes in Jerusalem or Phillipi? Come to that, how did they know so much about the towns in and around Galiliee?
I mean, you DID say word for word, didn't you?

Your take on the Buddhist "gospels" is novel, but nonsense.
Please provide one shred of definitive proof for your premise (or for any of the premises advocated on the website), especially for early dating of the supposed "gospels".
The church knows what it knows from experience. It did just fine without written new testament scripture for almost four hundred years.
Only in recent times has scripture been elevated to it's present status, by late coming, relatively recent Christian groups.
Also Buddha never saved anyone, nor did he claim to be God.

Technically you could be right because without the significant mentions of Jesus the rest of the bible mainly becomes Judaism? I'm not completely sure how much Jesus if referenced in the other books of the new testament but i will read the bible one day to learn more about what i don't believe in

That is not true. God told Moses He would raise up a prophet like Moses to deliver the people from sin, Isaiah 53 verses 1-10 speaks of the coming of Christ. Most of the prophets point to the redeeming of the people of Israel, through the coming of the Deliverer Christ Jesus.

Well, without a brain in your head, you too are null and void. Why don't you stop attacking Christianity and just worship yourself?
Even Hindus don't attack Christians, even though their own holy books are written in Sanskrit.

HI Nick L
Wrong on all counts. Study all book from Genesis to Malachi. Also Revelation. The so called Pirate copies. Lie---Lie---Lie.
Don't believe Preachers, Christians, Buddhist, The Pope, Me, or anyone.
Don't believe anything you hear or read and only half of everythig else you see. PROVE all things. Millions of people with good intentions lie, not knowing that they are telling a lie, they repeat things which they hear. Don't repeat crap until you have proven it to be so.
Have a good day.

No. Your theory is piecemeal of the entire story. You must understand Christianity to do a fair critique.
No one can separate the entire Bible story. Remember Christians are simply Jews who believe the Old Covenant was fulfilled by Jesus the Christ (Messiah).
Many pagans reflected portions of the Truth of the One True God. They simply do not have the entire message, similar to your question.

The argument is not very convincing. For example, why would the Buddha ask his disciples to prepare a room for the Passover?
