I wouldn't say a need for "religion", since that is not in whom I believe. I have found the part of me that makes me whole, and that is the Creator of me.
So, need is not a part of it, merely the natural drive of every human that they seek to fill with drugs, alcohol, power, money, self aggrandizement, and more...yet, none of it works.
It is more odd to me, that in spite of this evidence surrounding us all, that so many people simply ignore it, and give it name like..."the human condition", or "flawed individuals", when in reality, if anyone took the time, they would see their own emptiness and examine why nothing seems to fill it.

Coz that way, the society-moulders think that people would take care of the needs of their fellow citizens, they use the "punishment for sinners by God" as a deterrence.

And by the way, the above-mentioned idea was from an atheist's point of view. I have never been puzzled by the religion I chose to pursue, Islam. Be a human, differentiate yourself from the animals, God has given u the power of reasoning. So use this power and research Islam. I bet you'll not be disappointed if you study it in an unbiased manner.

Simply because we are conscious of the fact that we are different from all the other creatures on this planet and it only follows that there is some greater point in our existence than to live 70 or 80 years and disappear. Especially considering that we have the mental capacity to continue to absorb information for hundreds of thousands of years.
Religion gives us a goal and a meaning for our being here.

Brainwashing...simply put.

Personally I have no reason to believe in a bunch of illogical crap created by people who were goat herders, fisherman and slaves of the Roman Empire.

One only needs to look at the Spanish Inquisition to realize organized religion is just a tool used by those in power to keep those without power helpless and under control.

Man has always tried to make sense of his existence. Religion is a primitive way of finding ourselves. But science has made many leaps and bounds in the last 10 years, so eventually science will crush religion forever.

Religion is a way of life, so wether you need it or not it is there. It is a source of inspiration to the whole world, you seek it, it doesn't seek you. It is unfortunate that some people have come to desecrate it so bad, and taught so much nasty things with respect to religion.

its because some people need a sense of a hope, need the thought that theres a reason to life, that life doesnt end here. people always make up something to get away from the real life. its pschological proble, (such as a kid whos been traumatized will block out those memories even to the point where they honestly dont remember)

We all need to believe in something. For some, it's religion. For me, I believe in myself. I believe in my family and close friends. I believe in my meditation practice. I do not believe in organized religion. And that's just me. :)
