Religion & Spirituality - 29 August 2006

They ask people if they believe in God. They know full well that we either believe in one God, many Gods, or nothing at all. Why do they care if we believe or not? If we dont, will they try to convert us? Am I the only one who's bothered by this? Please tell me what the big deal is. I dont wish to start a conflict, I just want some answers.

Islam considers all life forms as sacred. However, the sanctity of human life is accorded a special place. The first and the foremost basic right of a human being is the right to live. The Qur’an says about the one who kills an innocent person: “….it would be as if he killed the whole of mankind: and if any one saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of the whole of mankind.” [Al-Qur’an 5:32]

Such is the value of a single human life; the Qur’an equates the taking of even one human life unjustly, with killing all of humanity. Thus, the Qur’an prohibits murder in clear terms.

My question was NOT "Is murder ok"

My question is if someone follows the concious that God gave them, and they are under the impression that acts they've commited served God/Allah/etc even though most of us believe otherwise, did they sin?

- If someone murders because they truely believe they are doing the right thing and what God wants, have they sinned? (and YES, the bible does say non-believers should be killed in Chronicles, Jeremiah, and Deuteronomy)

- If someone marries several women because they believe its what God wants, have they sinned?

or better yet

- If someone protests a military funeral because they hate gays, and believe that this is what God wants them to do...have they sinned?

Just because a woman might look nice, that doesn't give us men a right to touch her, unless she gives us permission. In other words western men have to control themselves by law.
If western men can control themselves why can't muslim men, and let their women dress a little more freely?

Are religions early attempts to make sense of our place in the Universe? Now that we have modern science, will these religions die out given enough time? Is it okay to to distort your view of reality through religion even if it's not truth if that distortion of reality results in happiness and more productivity?

Jesus said there is none other name under heaven whereby we must be saved." when i got Jesus in my heart i didnt have to lie anymore-ok sometimes i dont get a candy bar-but im happier and i dont get caught lyin-what is better-im happier without a candy bar with Jesus than i was when i lied to get stuff-even when i got it.

i had to ask him to be my Messiah, savior and all that stuff-and He did it

I found out about it the day before yesterday, after I got back to school, and apparently he has a fatal infection and could die any minute. I wish I could communicate how much this man has meant to me and what an amazing person he is. I'm just distraught and I can't focus on anything else. I barely made it through yesterday's classes and I've been crying ever since. I have no idea how I'm going to deal with tomorrow's classes without falling apart. My friend's are trying to help, but I think I need to be alone.

I just don't know what to do...

I know that God knows what he's doing and I've been calling on him and putting my faith in him, but oh this is so difficult.

I'm not sure what I'm expecting by putting this out there....I know there are no answers and that I'll probably just get a bunch of responses telling me that God isn't real and that I'm on my own....

but I know that He IS real.


I guess I just need someone to empathize..

Man always believes that there is superior power..so he created God..Man has written the holy books like bible,kuraan(muslims holy book),and Gita(Hindus holy book)..all books teaches good things but man said these holy books r God's words so that everyone will follow those things..we hav no proofs that who wrote these books..all opinions are man generated except the natural things which r automatic..there is no theory of God in science also because there is no such type of thing..all religions r actually formed for the betterment of mankind only..Man itself is everything..if there is no man then there is no God also..its only an imagination of man..we have given names like prophets of God to Jesus,Mohammad(muslims),and Ram(hindus) but it is all our imagination..actually these men were good people and leaders of their time who had given teachings of peace and humanity to the people of that era..after that gradually we started saying them the prophets of God.?Do u agree with this? WHY?
