The thing about humor is that it is incredibly culture-bound -- the jokes that many other cultures tell are completely unfunny to us, and vice versa. This makes it difficult for us to detect when an ancient writing, like those found in the Bible, is actually trying to employ humor. So some parts of the Bible that seem ho-hum or gravely serious to us may have been quite hilarious in their original setting.
Two examples where many scholars believe humor is being employed are the books of "Tobit" and "Bel and the Dragon" (found only in the Catholic and Orthodox Old Testaments. Bel and the Dragon is at the end of the Catholic version of Daniel).
Finally, there are many different kinds of humor -- satire and parody being two of them. These types of humor can be clearly seen in the Bible as biblical writers ridiculed idolaters and others who did and believed in things that they considered foolish and erroneous. In this way the Bible actually utilizes humor for religious purposes.

The Bible isn't supposed to humor anyone. It is Gods Word. A Book of God's Words that tells us how to live. It also shows people the way to salvation and heaven. If more people lived according to the Bible, the world would have been a better place. No murders, kidnapping, thefts, cussing, wars, Hippocrates.........
Personally I believe in the standard King James edition. Most of the modern editions have most of the verses modified so they have a different meaning to them.

What a good question. I guess because the theme of the bible really deals with very serious issues. Namely, salvation.
But God loves humor. He has a wonderful sense of humor and loves to see us laugh and enjoy things, in a wholesome way of course!

I believe the Bible was written to help people make the right decision of going to Heaven and not Hell. I don't think God was trying to play Make Me Laugh. Besides, I've tried to put myself in different Bible characters shoes and I've found humor in many stories in the bible.

There were numerous instances of Jesus gathering a crowd by the shore, and then saying "follow me!" as he would walk over the water.
This was recorded as the worst practical joke in history.
Fortunately Moses was there each time to part the sea or else many would have perished.

Well I find it funny, in actual fact it is damn hilarious in some parts, It makes people believe in something that doesn't exist, it frightens grown ups, and it makes fools rich and powerful. How much of a comedy line is that?

Somehow I can't see Moses asking, "How many Pharaohs does it take to screw in a flaming torch?" or "Why did the Phoenix cross the Nile?"

Simple answer, there's nothing fun(ny) about religion, unless it's Scientology, that's pretty funny.
