It is NOT a religious call - but a human one. Can you ignore this? Can you honestly say you feel nothing?

Of course it shouldn't be ignored.

I would have hoped that in that crowd (i'm assuming there was one), one would have leapt in to save the boy from the insanity

the inhumanity

a mere child, defenseless and looking up to the adults around with hope that he will find some sort of protection.

The boy may just grow up with the same vicious and final outlook to fault. unforgiving and irrational.

thus perpetuating the same level of hate and violence, arrogance and ignorance, and the misguidance to the next generation.

Added Detail (09-01-06 11:00am):
I looked around for more details on the pictures you've shown...and according to www.snopes.com the pictures are real but not because of the reasons you say.

If this is true, then you are just a hate monger. We may not see eye to eye with other cultures, other countries...but that's no excuse to make up lies.

If what you say was a misinterpretation, then you just added more fodder to the huge dislike (to say the least) some countries in the mid-east already have for us. And this one of the few reasons why they do. The media spins what it airs to get the wrong sentiment.

For shame...for shame.

This is what www.snopes.com says about the pictures:
The above-displayed photographs have been circulating on the Internet since at least 2004, usually in e-mail forwards that set them in one of several Arab/Muslim areas (e.g., Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Palestinian territories) and claim that the boy pictured is being punished under a harsh sharia law system that imposes a penalty grossly out of proportion to the nature of the crime (i.e., having his arm crushed under a vehicle because he stole a loaf of bread).

What the photographs actually depict (according to the operator of the site that originally published them) is performers hustling money from onlookers by staging an act, one in which a subject seemingly allows himself to be run over by a heavy vehicle and then emerges unscathed. (Note the man with the microphone in the first picture, who drums up business and describes the action for observers. Also note the blanket placed under the boy's arm — not a consideration persons intent on severely punishing a lawbreaker would be likely to provide.) This a common illusion, variations of which are performed by many magicians and accomplished through a variety of means, with no lasting harm done. That the subject is a small boy who grimaces his way through the stunt is all part of the act, intended to elicit sympathy and extra cash — despite his contorted facial expressions, the boy is not seriously hurt.

The versions of these photographs circulated via e-mail generally leave out the last pictures of the original series, which show the same boy after the conclusion of the stunt: (A picture of the boy shaken, but unhurt).

That is why the US is in Iran - because of "inhumane" treatment of the people of Iran. People protest the war and say we should stay out of their business, but that type of cruelty was caused by Sadam and his followers. It must end.

THAT IS THE PROBLEM THAT WE ARE TRYING TO FIX BY BEING OVER THERE FIGHTING A WAR...THESE THINGS TAKE TIME, LOOK AT NAZI GERMANY, WE STILL HAVE NAZI'S HERE IN THIS DAY AND AGE. THINGS WILL GET BETTER OVER THERE AND THINGS WILL CHANGE THAT IS WHY WE NEED TO SUPPORT ALL OF OUR TROOPS OVER THERE EVEN IF WE DON'T BELIEVE IN WHY WE EVEN WENT OVER THERE IN THE FIRST PLACE, WE ARE MAKING A DIFFERENCE ANYWAYS!! THINGS WILL CHANGE AND GET BETTER, WE ALL NEED TO BE SUPPORTIVE.
