Any "purpose" would imply a lack to be fulfilled. Therefor the idea of a purpose to this planet or universe is incompatible wih any adequately full idea of God. The Vedic ideal overcomes this by saying it is simply the nature of the source of everything to emerge as it does.

I watched some Christian documentary about science and faith and the narrator said that humans were placed here on this planet to better observe and learn about the universe around us. So I guess God made us so we could learn about God's creations? Whatever.

In my church they said that god made the earth because he was lonely & wanted people to talk to.....I defintly don't doubt that after he helped me cut my addictions.
