Western men accept that women can dress how they want, the same as men can.We all know that (cont. below)?

Just because a woman might look nice, that doesn't give us men a right to touch her, unless she gives us permission. In other words western men have to control themselves by law.
If western men can control themselves why can't muslim men, and let their women dress a little more freely?

it goes a lot deeper than that, but by your logic- Western women ought to dress like Muslims too because men DON'T control themselves.

I am NOT saying I am in favor of women dressing like that just so there is no confusion.

Because man is illogical. You can make a valid, sound argument out of many things wrong in todays society, and argue how it should be, but men prefer to argue their own unsound logic when it comes to women. They find it best for themselves and their own egos or self-concepts to make women bear all of the suffering and grief for man's wrongdoing- ie, if she gets raped, it is somehow 'her fault' and so on. Man does indeed have the ability to control HIMSELF, and that would be the logical argument in favor of it, but he doesn't apply it to himself and rather expects other people to have to use it or be the recipient of it simply because he does not want to admit his own guilt and thus threaten his 'more powerful' or 'superior' image when it comes to women. This owuld threaten man's 'existence' in his mind. Think, if everything man was raised on suddenly was proven faulty, if suddenly he lost he power he thinks he has the right to---men can't bear to do this to themselves (even though it's already true! They just wont admit it!) and traumatize themselves in this way- they'd come apart at the seams. So they come up with defenses, but as anyone should know, defenses are often detached form reality, fuzzy, and only in favor of whoever needs them....
If you make women the guilty party all the time, it is easy for men to think/'prove' that women and inferior to men. And that's what they want everyone, including women to think- because they want only what they want, and the way to get that is through manipulation alone. You have to have power in order to manipulate, and to have power over something, it must be weaker than you. Enter illogical arguments designed to weaken womens presence in society/culture and their own self-concepts and hamper their abilities.... and it's a perfect recipe for man's selfish desires to be successfully fulfilled.

I always question that....I live near what looks like an arabic couple in my apartment complex, and the woman always wear those dresses made out of that special fabric, and her hair is long and always braded. I would think that since they moved to America for freedom, they would dress how Americans dress, but then again, America is the place for free expression and that may just be their culture and how they grew up and they feel comfortable dressing that way....I do know that if I were in their shoes, I would conform to whatever culture I was living in.

Maybe it might be that the women choose not show their bodies for all to gawk at. This has nothing to do with men allow or not allowing a woman to do somehting. It is personal decsion made by these women. Also, as a person living in the western society I do not agree that the immodest dress of women here has had no effect on society. It has led young girls do eating disorders, sexual assualt on women (not that its the womans fault), the direspect of women as intellectual and spiritual beings, women are seen mostly as sex objects. Western society has degraded women to the point that they are hired to show off their bodies to fill the pockets of corporations (usually run by men). Look at the obvious porn industry, escort services, strippers, female actresses, commercials. All of these sexualize women. How are we to raise children in this society to know that as a female you are more than your physical attributes and raise males to respect females as human beings.

Let me ask all the women here. How often have you worn a short skirt or halter top and have been aware of the fact that men are staring at you? And how often do you think about adjusting your clothing becuase maybe you might be showing off more than you intended.

I have observed more than a few women bend over to pick up a fallen pen at work and shot back up becuase they became aware that the low cut shirt they had on was now exposing to all the men in the area their breasts. I have also observed several women while wearing short skirts maneuver themselves awkwardly to sit down so that as they sit their panties are not in plain sight. This obeservation indicates to me that the clothes women wear are not necessarily the most comfortable to them and they wear them only becuase we have all been taught by society that if a woman is to be noticed she needs to sex-up her looks.

I also want to take this oppurtunity to say that I am as guilty as any other man when I look at women in an inapporpriate way. There are no excuses. I should have more self control.

However, the question is to all women: If you wish for men to stop looking at you as sex objects and see your intellect, personality, spirit, ect. wouldnt you want to take that control yourself instead of leaving it up to men to learn to look past the sexy clothes? Wouldnt you rather not have to deal with the inconvience and hassles of the clothes, the waxings, the hours of standing in front of a mirror applying make-up. I think that here in the west we have a double standard that gives women the short end of the stick.

We expect women to spend close two hours or more in morning getting ready for work while we men get up and spend all of maybe 30 minutes. If a woman were not to be the fashionist that we expect we mock and ridicule her. If she is not the fake beuty of runway and fashion models we tease her into a eating disorder.

Can western men really control themselves? In many US states, inappropriate touching is a low-level misdemeanor punishable by small fines and probation.

Rape is punishable by death in Islamic societies. So is adultery?

In my experience, a lot of western men CAN'T control themselves.

It´s about culture. Men in western civilizations are taught since childhood that it is not ok to touch anyone without permission, specially women.

Muslim kids are taught that women are not worthy, and that women are what provokes men to be sinful. Same things are taught to muslim women.

In other places men and women run naked and there are not rapes nor adultery in this cultures (check Amazon cultures)

I don't think it has anything to do with the Muslim men having a lack of control. This is simply their custom and religion. This is like asking "well, if westerners like Jesus so damn much why can't Muslims just suck it up and love him too." Different cultures and religions have different beliefs. Wow.
