Does it not bother you that so many failed religions of the past had the exact same premise as yours? Join us and be good under our standards be happy for eternity, don't do it go to hell and wish you had listened for eternity? My "religion" teaches that it is ignorance to fall into such a trap and that many people have and will set up religious schemes just like this to prey on people's desires and fears. And the Siddhartha Gautama was alive 2500 years ago and used only reason to form these beliefs. So it's older than Christianity and based solely on reason without any leaps of faith, only what you come to understand yourself.

My question is do so many similar religions historically before yours promising all the same things with less powerful enforcement ever make you question your beliefs as really so original? And if you're atheist did this play a role in you choosing to become so?

It did for me, I've always felt it was a trap trying to tempt and scare me into conformity.

Believe your parents? How do you know they are your parents? Have you seen your birth certificate? Is there such thing as a fake birth certificate? You believe your age without proof, is my point, and you take it completely, unquestioningly, for granted. What else in your life could possibly be wrong?

Imagine God looking down about Islamists bowing in ritual 5 times a day and thinking "how neat that they keep rituals for some imagined religious perception of me". I can think of nothing uglier in this world than self righteousness...a certainty about ones absolute truth in a world of total uncertainty and complexity...no way God looks at such people who, in essense play God, by asserting they are certain of a single worldview when only a God could really be 100% certain.

God's impressed with ritual mass? "lalalalala....amen"...come on people.

I think this is really gross. Isn't this against many religions? Why would you want to keep a jar containing someone's remain in your house. Gross!

many people have tried to establish just what is love???
love... is it real, or is it something that we want to feel.. and in wanting to feel love.. is it masked by the idea of being loved in return???
do we trick our mind into saying we are in love simply because we disire to be loved at least once in our life???

I consider being wrapped up in fantastical, impossible, dreams for hours every day to be proof of our fallibility. We can be fooled about ANYTHING. Someone who is rock-solid "unchangable" in their beliefs is a fool not to realize this, agree?

Ever hear a "healer" explain to a afflicted person why his/her healing didnt stick? Its usually stuff like "you didnt sincerely believe" or "your heart wasnt open" or worse!

Ok, go ahead, give me those same cliches. I did seek God honestly, and I still do, and I still hear and feel nothing I can fairly distinguish from normal human experience.

I wont dimish God to some pathetic game of reading the "tea leaves"...thats always so selective to if you notice...people always read the tea leaves for God in the way they want to find him.

Go ahead, tell me how you found him...gush with your imagined relationship...i have knoe hundreds with this claim and found none authentic.

Can God really be offended by my honestly on the subject? Maybe if God exists he is refreshed with my honesty as opposed to the billions that gush on about this imagined relationship...imagine being God and thinking "where did you get that one buddy....i said no such thing idiot".

In the Bible it says those that kill should be killed. I hate those who have abortions. They are worthless sluts.

I'm not talking about, say one person acting on another person, like someone murdering someone else or a car accident or anything like that. What I mean is why would God let something, say the Tsunami, happen? I mean So many innocent people died, especailly children and I just don't understand how a just God could let terrible things like this happen. Any itelliegent answers?

Many on here talk about how its not your body that goes to heaven and lives forever, its your soul. So things like aging, bodily functions, etc (even human emotions some have said) would not exist. Well then, how come Hell is associated with physical torture and pain? How do you burn a soul?

My husband and I have been married for 10 years. When he was a chid he went to the mormon church. He stopped at the age of 13. In ten years we have never been left alone by them. They are at our house 3-4 times a week, thats just the missionaries. We also get assigned teacher families and get phone calls. I've been nice and I've been mean. We have called people, to try to get off of whatever list we are on. We have written letters and posted signs on our door and fence. It may seem like I'm being anal, but It's a serious annoyance. We moved to the country to get away, and yet I see mormons more than my own family, we have movedfour times while we have been married and they find us every time. Has anyone gotten rid of these people before, or will they intrude in my life forever?

I am a Jehovah's Witness and she is a Southern Baptist. I have shown her that all of her beleifs are nothing but tradition, not christian roots. And she still is strong minded on her celebrations such as Christmas which is well known not to be a christian beleif.
