If you do not know when life begins. If it has not been scientifically proven when it has soul and becomes life then how can you be sure it is not murder? Or do you even believe humans have souls?

I mean it would stand to reason that evolutionists also believe in extraterestrials. How else could you explain such a far fetched theory?

Could that be because Americans do not like their "dear" president to be critisized by non-Americans, although they know he is obviously a very bad guy ?

My question was this:
Do you think I should start praying for God?
It is f*cking hot here (in Istanbul). I just had some cold watermelon along with some white cheese in bread- and I loved it !
I felt like thanking to someone for making them available. Then, suddenly it occurred to me; could that be God ?
Do you think I should forgive God for creating Bush, Bin Laden and the like and start praying for him ? If yes, should I pray for the Muslim God or the Christian God? Which of them do you think made the watermelon ?

To those who say we cannot make a difference, If everyone fed even one poor person how much of a differrence would that make?

"Two thousand, one hundred verses in the Bible talk about God's love and concern for the poor and our mandate to deal with it. That's more than the verses [about] heaven and hell combined. This is clearly in the heart of God."

Whenever Christians want to convince us of the truth of their religion they will quote from the Bible, believing as they do, that every word in the Bible is literally true. But when we quote from the Bible to prove that their religion is primitive, silly or illogical (e.g. that smoke comes out God's nose and fire comes out of his mouth, Ps 18:7-8; or that donkeys can talk, Num 22:28) the Christian will say: "That's symbolic, it is not meant to be taken literally." Christians are very selective in how they interpret the Bible. Some passages are 'God's word' and literally true and other parts, usually the embarrassing parts, are not meant to be taken literally. Either the Bible is God's infallible word or it is not, one cannot pick and choose. And if indeed some passages are meant to be taken literally and others are not, how do Christians decide? If the stories about Balaam's donkey talking, Adam and Eve eating the apple, or Moses turning his stick into a snake are not meant to be taken literally, perhaps too, the stories about Jesus' resurrection are only symbolic and not meant to be taken literally.

religion and love have played a strong part in my life.. i once thought i loved until he deceieved me.. years later i have over come the hurt and nightmares.. i am a stronger person but recently i have pulled back from love and i am very cautious.. fear and anxiety have closed my heart to a new love in fear he might hurt me as he already tricked me.. should i open the door to love as if i leave it closed it might never open again...

If youve tried to explain evolution to a religious person you know what Im talking about. It doesnt matter the religion, I was trying to explain evolution to a Muslim the other day and 2 minutes into it he just outright told me, in a semi-irrtated semi-defeatist tone, that he "didnt want to talk about it anymore".

Ive had the same experience with Christians..."i dont wanna talk about it anymore!" Like some kid whose parent raises his misdeeds.

My sense of it is that these people, when you do a good enough job of begining to explain it, reflexively kick-out a self defense mechanism. Why do humans so often use "apes" in a derogatory sense? I think we have an innate sense of the truth of evolution and that layers of religious belief are to painful to strip away in one shot...the mind cannot handle it.

Truely, no one leaves there religion in one shot, its a process, the mind cant handle it otherwise....plato's analogy of the cave so perfectly describes this process of discovery.

If you defined your own morals, then you could justify any action, thought, or whim you desired to act upon. Anyways, you would be making the rules wouldn't you? What would stop you from doing wrong? How could there be wrong for you? Would you have to go through and list every action "good" or "bad?" What would you do if your morals conflicted with someone esle? How do you defend them?

I could go on, but I'll stop there. I am truly not trying to attack any one group of people; I sincerely want to know.

Have you ever been tempted to leave your church? Ever gone to a mainline church that had beautiful worship music and a dynamic speaker? Have you ever wondered if mainline christianity had more to offer?

If God exists, I suspect he daily considers ending the normal phenomina of "coincidence" that is constantly confused for his message.

"I got in an accident today and I was going to propose to my girlfriend, clearly God doesnt want me to marry her."

"I heard the song 'hes a loser' and hour after our date, clearly thats a sign"

Isnt this the kinda stuff a lot of people do...and then, when they talk about their neat relationship with God they get into this phoney tone of voice and then go on about all these "signs", what a scary way to live life.

Anyone ever hear a divorce justifed with this mentality? Very common.
