Believe your parents? How do you know they are your parents? Have you seen your birth certificate? Is there such thing as a fake birth certificate? You believe your age without proof, is my point, and you take it completely, unquestioningly, for granted. What else in your life could possibly be wrong?

That's funny. I've thought the same. However, I feel like my age (26) so I can't be much younger or older. My doctors are not surprised with my health for my age. I don't see why someone would have a fake birth certificate. Why would someone do that to their kids? As far as my parents, there are lots of physical similarities and I love the people who raised me whether or not I believe they are really my parents.

I guess it all depends on which part of the person you are speaking of.
If you mean your physical body then yes mistakes can happen. But there are several means of finding out the truth. Get a copy of your actual birth certificate as filed by the hospital or doctor when you were born. Get a copy of your baptism certificate if you can. Have your fingprints taken and see if anything comes up.
If you are talking about your spiritual being. Then your age is infinite as your spirit never dies.

You could order your own copy of your birth certificate from the state where you were born and see if it matches. You have other relatives and family friends besides your parents who could confirm your birth date. Maybe you have older siblings who remember when you were born. There would really have to be a major conspiracy at work to be fooling you about this.

Of course, adopted children might have a tougher time verifying their actual birthdate.

I believe that a birth certificate is proof enough of someones age. You seem to be questioning your parents. Are you angry with them for some reason?

Actually I have seen my birth certificate and I had to get another one from the state for my passport so I know it is correct therefore I know my age is correct. Now we just recently found out that my Grandmother who had always celebrated her birthday on April 27th saw a birthcertificate recently and it read April 28th. Celebrating the wrong day her whole life.

I honestly don't see why my parents or anybody else's would go to such lengths to lie about my age. I mean age does have a way of revealing itself in our physical appearence and maturity even if the number is false.

Well I suppose that could happen in some twisted way... But there is SOME proof-you could look like your parents..and you could look like your age (for example you may think your 5 but really your over 5 feet and look and sound like an adult). But I personally think you should have a little faith and just live without proof sometimes..like now.

Well, thisis an interesting question. Yes, there are fake birth certificates, and yes, I am willing to accept whatever age they say I am. Why? Because it doesn't change who I am or what I think. Without age we would all be on the same playing field, so really, it doesn't matter.

I know how old I am. I have a certified copy of my birth certificate stating my date of birth, time of birth, whether I was a single birth (as opposed to a twin or triplet), both parents names, their occupations at the time of my birth, the address they lived at the time of birth, the doctor who delivered me, when it was filed with city hall date/time. As a genealogist I know the only way to know if you have your lines correct is documentation.
