I live in VA and I tend to come across the "Bars and Stars" everywhere. Car window decals, on hats, t-shirts. People say that its "heritage" When I see these emblems I think of millions of people who were held in bondage by this "heritage" What do you think?

Does your state license citizens to carry concealed weapons? mine does, but there are few places that allow firearms to be carried on the premises..

Other very educated countries have to be laughing out loud- A LOT- at SOME of the insignificant, ridiculous waste of time type questions on here. I AM NOT TALKING ABOUT THE SINCERE QUESTIONS!!
But, No wonder many of those counties think we're idiots. With SOME of the useless questions that are a waste of time- and the ones who ask them usually can't spell worth a darn either! Can you blame them? So, I don't blame other countries for thinking poorly of many Americans...again, NOT ALL, just some of us must appear to be illiterate, shallow and totally mindless.

is it hypocritical for an atheist to say "bless you", being as it's just short for "god bless you".
this point can be used for almost every other phrase with the word "god" in it.

Why does the general public think that being 'politically correct' is to be a liberal? Any one paying attention these days knows that political correctness is pro-theocracy, pro-war, pro-profiteering, pro-explotation, pro-racism. pro-religious bigotry

have to adopt the same label that you have used to define anyone who disagrees with your present stance? Or will you just re-define youselves again?

airplanes across the country. I mean not so many that the value of the dollar would dramatically decrease but just so people could have some gas money?
Also, why cant they just write out checks for a few hundred thousand dollars for eeryone that legally lives in the US. I need an economist here.

Patrons are the real bad guys and the ones that support the institution. Do you think most of these women are truly immoral people and actually WANT to be doing this? I read this article about a man who went undercover as a patron in Thailand and ended up interviewing the prostitutes and asking about how they ended up doing what they were doing. I also read the book Broken Trail and saw the movie. These women, or most of them, all have very tragic stories.

Isn't it evident that the middle class is getting sleazier and sleazier. I see young guys in filthy baggy pants hanging down their hips. Whereas, adult men are walking around in dirty shabby looking cotton gym pants.

Young girls wearing tight jeans and showing their measurement for the world to see. Fat women are wearing tight pants with no cover on their booties. I hate to see out of shape, enormous booties walking in front of me. I almost throw up. Cant they wear something more modest and not to advertise their elephant size hips? I wouldn't be proud of it.

What happened to good old days when mommy and papa were dressed up in suit and dresses, and little 8-year old Albert wearing a suit and tie for a tomato shopping down the street? lol

It’s funny because when I say something like that people get upset as if I did something wrong; meanwhile that is what everyone thinks of them self. Please let us not forget that there is a big difference between being paranoid and being aware. Except for a friend I sometimes have lunch with I’ve kept this story a secret from most of my friends up until now. Back around October 2003 while I was installing a new graphics card into my computer (that I built) I was shocked to find a strange card that wasn’t mine somehow installed on the motherboard (earlier minor details left out - I’m keeping this short). “How the *@# did that get in there?!”, I asked myself. You see these are the facts, I live by myself and there’s no possible way that it came into my home and became installed unless someone else took the time and effort to put it there while I wasn’t home!! I wasn’t cheating on anyone, my criminal record consists of a very old D.U.I., a few parking tickets, I like grown women, I have no foreign ties and I don’t go about promoting political causes or causing unwanted commotion. Anyway, I pulled the card out and threw it in the trash while saying to myself, “who would be foolish enough to plant a bug in my boring home?” Also when I first discovered the card it had occurred to me that I would need a plan of action, because whom ever placed it there would probably try again and I wanted to know who was behind this invasion of my privacy. Sure enough sometime later I was going through my bookcase and “WOW!”, sitting out of sight on the bottom shelf I found a brand new portable compact disk player with all the frills! It didn’t belong to me or any of my friends or neighbors! So, I decided not to throw it out and see what would happen if I kept it over a long peroid of time (the rest of which you’ll have to imagine yourself). I pose this question for all you great thinkers and brainers out there – WHAT WOULD YOU HAVE DONE IN THIS SITUATION?

A recent TV program featured Buffet's grandaughter, who works as a nanny. She said she was given the best education by her family, but no more. She was told that she was given the tools to make her way in life, but it was up to her to go on from there on her own. When asked if she resented this, she said, 'no; although a little more money would help."
This coincides with Buffet's statement accompagnying his charitable donation, that he is opposed to people who think they are superior &/or are afforded special advantages merely by virtue of their having a wealthy family.
